My wife and I have been huge fans of the Perc-on-Church coffee house since it opened a year or so ago. We both enjoy an outing on the weekend which once a month with a sandwich, or bowl of soup and a cup of coffee. Last weekend, we stopped by anticipating a warming experience; however, the chowder tasted like a local canned variety which had been left on the fire too long, and the sandwich was missing half the ingredients. The reply by the staff was we can bring those things on a side dish. Hmmm!

This was very disappointing since their prices were previously well justified by the quality and sumptuous flavor of the food and deserts.

Let's hope they return to the previous standards soon. If not they're off the list.

Thank Gerald M

We eat breakfast and lunch here all the time. They have outdoor seating and great crepes, salads and omelettes. The coffee is very good.

I wanted a different breakfast than eggs and bacon this morning in Guilford, CT. I looked up in the internet crepes and got Perk on Church which was a 10 minute drive from my hotel. The restaurant is very small like a tiny Starbucks. It's located in fron of a park and next to a church. Very homey atmosphere. Everyone that came in for coffee or stayed for breakfast seemed to know eachother. There was a customer doing work on his laptop having his breakfast. I ordered the bananas foster crepe with bacon and coffee. The cashier whi is also the waitress attended to me very quickly and helped me with chose the typoe of crepe I would be happy with. The crepes was served within minutes. It was very fresh and the filling has brown sugar and bananas. It was a nice change from th e standard breakfast along with being in a very comfortable quiet atmoshere where you could enjoy your breakfast at your own pace. No crowds or hustle and bustle. In half an hour I was back at my hotel ready to start my day.

I recently visited Perk on Church for lunch. This restaurant is located in a converted quonset hut just a few yards from the Guilford Green. The interior is interesting as it incorporates many of the unusual features of the converted quonset hut.

One orders at the counter, then the waitress delivers the food to your table. The menu is on several large blackboards so one has to spend a little time perusing each board. On the menu are crepes, sandwiches, coffees, teas, and other items which are ideal for light fare. On a nice day one can sit on the adjacent patio and enjoy coffee, breakfast, or lunch while watching the world go by.

For lunch I ordered the Chicken Caesar wrap, and a glass of unsweetened ice tea. The wrap is a nice size, with plenty of diced chicken and romaine lettuce. There was plenty of caesar dressing in the wrap, and it was delicious overall. But the lettuce should have been more green. The wrap was served with a pickle slice and a nice slice of fresh seedless watermelon- an interesting touch. There is a side table with napkins, sugar, and alternative sweeteners, one of which was agave nectar. Perfect- I chose the agave to sweeten my ice tea.

Crepes seem to be a strong suit here. The restaurant catered a recent Chamber of Commerce event, where the staff prepared crepes- I had their chocolate nut (nuvella?) crepe with bananas, which was infectious.

As much as I enjoyed this place, I still feel there is some room for improvement. The available tables were not cleaned well, containing crumbs. The windows contained some residue which should be cleaned so that those sitting at window tales can enjoy the sidewalk view.

Service was good.

In my opinion, this place is worth considering for lunch or a daytime snack or coffee.
