Our daughter found The Brainerd House B&B for the entire family to stay at during the week of her wedding. You aren’t supposed to gush about a place when reviewing it, but it’s hard not to do so. This place was incredible! The rooms were beautifully decorated and all were very clean and comfortable. The bathrooms have been updated, and the water pressure met my husband’s high expectations. The bedrooms/suites are very separate from each other. The common areas were used constantly by the family. We planted ourselves in the lovely sunroom or on the patio first thing in the morning or as soon as we returned each evening. The lawn was well-manicured and all of the flowers and planters were stunning. The Laurel cottage is just as charming and beautiful as pictured on the website - the view was outstanding.
Even more impressive were Geoff and Maryan, the innkeepers. They were welcoming, knowledgeable, witty, and the most accommodating owners we’ve ever encountered. From the moment we arrived, they made sure we were comfortable. Breakfast was planned around our schedule each day and we were never disappointed with the quality or presentation of the meal. Maryan is a very talented cook - we’d love to see her compete on The Food Network! While Maryan was cooking, Geoff would often keep us entertained with his knowledge of the area. They were both very resourceful and lots of fun. We definitely arrived as strangers and left as good friends. And I can’t finish without mentioning the blue berry stain incident. I was eating a blueberry pancake and didn’t notice that I had sliced through a berry until the juice squirted on my new, white pants. Maryan immediately got some stain remover for me, but to no avail. I changed and left the house wishing I had been more careful. While I was gone, Maryan picked the pants up and removed the stain. She and Goeff are the best! We will be returning to the Brainerd House B&B on our next trip to Connecticut.
