Stayed here before, great chef with a good selection of ales. Last time was in the summer so sat outside, but the log fire this time was a great comfort. Staff all friendly and very accommodating. If you are in the area, the Royal Oak is a little of the beaten track but it’s well worth it.

Twice a year my wife and I meet up with my brothers and their partners for a night's bed and breakfast and evening meal. Usually we choose a different venue each time. We all agreed we'd come again to the Royal Oak. We had a warm welcome, a great meal and spacious, comfortable rooms. The surroundings are beautifully rural, and the details of several local walks were provided by the very friendly staff.

We have visited the Royal oak quite a few times since it first opened and the menu has changed a lot since our first visit.

It's much more pubby now than it was when it first opened which suits the building and location. Although we did love the old menu style, everything we had on our most recent visit was very tasty and excellent quality. It certainly knocks the spots of several other pubs in the area in a similar price bracket.

I had the salmon to start which came on a gorgeous hot potato cake with lovely pickles. I also had the steak which was a little overdone but good nonetheless. The accompanying chunky chips were crisp and fluffy. For dessert I had the chocolate tart which was DIVINE.

We will definitely be back.

Came here for dinner in a party of 6. Everything was great. Good service, good food and lovely pub. We have been many times before and will be back.

Beautifully decorated, great beds (massive and very comfortable). Quiet and peaceful. lovely food. Great service. They even added jam rolly poly to the menu at my partners request for the evening because it was my birthday. Highly recommended!
