The Old Vicarage Campsite

We only stayed one night, but were thoroughly impressed. The campsite was very neat and tidy (despite it being fully booked over the previous two days)...the composting toilets were clean with plenty of loo roll and the showers were hot (and free!) with lots of room to hang up your clothes. The braziers are a fantastic idea and the basket of wood costing just a fiver was ample to last the evening. It was also a bonus not having a set arrival/departure time. We will definitely be returning very soon!

My sister and I wanted a short break together so this seemed perfect.. and it was. Bernie provided us with a great tub of wood which lasted 2 nights on his brilliant brazier. The compost loos are not smelly and the showers were clean with enough warm water. We cooked our tea on the fire and sat watching the stars and listening to the owls.

Returned home today from this fantastic campsite. Laid back, friendly approach by Bernie (owner) who was more than happy to help and offer local knowledge. Pitch were you want with braziers to have a fire, cook food and sit around. You can buy great firewood there. Lots of space and field views, certaintly do not feel on top of other people. No problem with noise, both local or other guests. Shower and toilet facilities were as advertised and although they might be a bit basic for some they were very clean and plenty of hot water. 15 min walk by road the local village with plenty of shops, pub etc or a £4 taxi if late. Ideal campsite for all, space for families, peace for couples or groups.

Room Tip: Pitch your tent on the same side as the showers/middle/top of the field to get the morning sun and d...

We have stayed here a number of times and highly recommend.
This is what we would describe as proper camping, we often stay here with our young child and feel happy for her to run around freely, with no cars on site it is perfect for her.
We have also stayed with other adults and it has also been perfect.
Cooking over open fires just tops it all off (plenty of wood provided for a reasonable price).
The toilets, showers and washing facilities are clean and well maintained.
To top it off the site owner is very friendly and always happy to help.
Although its not too far from home this camp-site has to be one of our favourites to visit and being a Scout Leader my Husband is hard to please!

We've just had a lovely weekend at this camp site . No cars on site . Loads of space . Pitch your tent wherever you like . Turn up at any time on arrival day and leave any time on your departure day . A perfect site for people who really like getting back to basics . Very friendly helpful owner . Very peaceful place with beautiful sunrise and sunsets .Wish more campsites were like this.
