“Beautiful views and walks....fab fish and chips!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2013 via mobile

Seaton sluice is a beautiful small town, it has a fabulous beach and harbour as well as some lovely walks up the Holywell dene. It has a number if lovely pubs to eat and enjoy good food aswell as a fab fish and chip shop. You also have some lovely tea rooms called Castaways next to the Collywell bay beach which is great for rock pooling... Altogether a lovely day out for summer. It has two lovely parks for children and is close to Seaton Delaval Hall which is National Trust and close to St Mary's Lighthouse in Whitlay bay.

“Great beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 June 2013

Free parking at various places between Seaton Sluice and Blyth (unlike nearby Tynemouth and Whitley Bay). Great views. Gently sloping sand backed by dunes. Dog and horse friendly. Good selection of eateries nearby. What more could you want?

“The beach is beautiful. So is the fish and chips”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2013

This is a beach on which dogs are allowed. Provided that there are conscientious dog owners, it is a clean beach between Whitley Bay and Blyth. Backed by sand-dunes the beach itself is attractive with lovely golden sand, ideal for sand castles. Gently sloping sand into the (cold) North Sea. The view North towards Blyth is not pretty and the wind-turbines do not enhance it. There is a Tarmac path along the top of the dunes used by walkers, strollers and cyclists (some of whom seem to think they rule the world and despise you for daring to use "their" space to walk or stretch your legs, sitting on a bench). There is a conveniently placed car park at Seaton Sluice. If you are not very mobile steps enable you to get to the path/benches on top of the dunes from the car park. However, getting from there to the beach is not easy - you basically wade through sand dunes.

At the Southern end of the beach you have on-road parking close to two "ok" pubs, the Kings Arms (no juke box, no fruit machines) and the Waterford Arms. Both serve food and the Waterford Arms was known for its fish and chips under the previous owner. Across the main (coast) road is Gill's fish and chips which is WONDERFUL and worth a detour even without the beach. Eat in or better still take-out and eat overlooking the beach.

To round off the visit go to the the Crescent Cafe in nearby Seaton Delavel for superb home-made Italian ice-cream.

Be prepared to queue both at Gill's and the Crescent Cafe!

“A lovely beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2013

A lovely beach with the added bonus of good pub grub or the best fish and chips in the area! There is a house on the corner that sells tea and coffee for charity too
