“Excellent place for dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

There are not many restaurants to chose from in Kent, but you will be surprised that the menu and quality of food at the Fife & Drum restaurant can easily compare to upscale NYC restaurants. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and makes a great place for a romantic dinner for two. The service was prompt and very friendly and prices were moderate. It was great, that we didn't need a reservation on a Saturday evening.

“Excellent service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2013

We have dined here twice in the last month and enjoyed both visits. The food is very good but the prices quite high, although they are consistent with the area. Prince Edward Island steamed mussels rated a five out of five stars along with the baked scrod and seared mahi-mahi. The wait staff is exceptional, courteous, helpful, and attentive.

Beautifully appointed restaurant on Route 7 in Kent, CT. Celebrating its 40th year when we were there in Oct 2013. Excellent dining experience. Very attentive wait staff.

“$6 for about half a cup of so so soup”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 October 2013

On a driving trip through New England we were looking for a place for lunch in Kent. Except for theFife and Drum, there were only a couple of very small places. We ordered clam chowder for $6 and were expected a bowl. But what we got was literally about half a measuring cup of mediocre clam chowder with watery broth and much too large hunks of celery and half of tiny potatoes floating in it, and yes, a few clams. As we were still hungry, we all ordered dessert, which were normal-sized . I had the New York cheesecake and it was pretty good but did not taste freshy made - perhaps bought frozen? A piece of cheesecake was $8, about $2 more than for the equivalent elsewhere. All in all, the food is not very inspired, but it's pretty much the only place in town.
