We had our wedding at the Wake Robin a few weeks ago, and could not have asked for a more wonderful experience all around. Shaffin and his staff were amazing throughout the planning process; we felt as though every detail was being taken care of and carefully thought through. On our wedding day, it poured, was windy, and 41 degrees (Memorial Day weekend!), but we never even noticed as the Inn handled the whole event beautifully. Shaffin's two sons served delicious cookies and tea as a "pre-cocktail hour" snack, adding to the homey feeling of the day. The Inn itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and a perfect spot for a wedding to feel elegant but still very family style. We were so impressed with every aspect of our wedding weekend, and can't recommend Wake Robin highly enough. We can't wait to go back to celebrate anniversaries!

My husband and 2 sons (7 & 10) spent 2 nights at this lovely Inn that used to be a girls boarding school. The accommodations were the best of any 'local' inn that we have ever stayed. The Master room was nicely appointed, clean and spacious for a building of such age. The King size bed should probably be replaced soon ... a bit lumpy. The adjoining room had 2 twin beds, a TV and full bathroom .... Perfect for our 2 guys. The bar was very nice, sitting out on the front or back porch would have been very nice but we had no time as we were in for a high school reunion. We would return but not during a reunion weekend. The 'youngsters' were out of control and kept us up from 2 - 4 AM! We heard the same happened at all of the other local hotels, motels, etc. So ask before you book! Other than that ... perfect.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor may be quieter. Guests on the second floor hear other guests walking about a...

Our son was married at the Wake Robin this past weekend, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the Inn, staff, and genuine cooperation of all. Living in Virginia, bride's parents in the UK, couple living in Brooklyn, NY, it was not easy planning everything for the weekend. Thanks to the staff, things went off without any problems at all. The outside barbeque was moved inside, due to the rain, and the staff made it just wonderful for us. We hope to go back to the area in the fall and plan to stay at the Wake Robin Inn. One of the guests said to me, "It felt like we were all in a home, not a hotel." It really did feel like a family, including the two standard poodles.

Room Tip: We stayed in the main lodge, corner room had windows on the front and side. Very quiet and a separat...

Wake Robin Inn is a beautiful Victorian inn--on the outside. It was a little disappointing on the inside as the decor was more regular hotel then Victorian. I can understand that though as it's an "Event Inn" and Victorian decor would probably not hold up to many large events. It was comfortable, great mattress and the innkeeper and his staff very nice and accommodating. The breakfast buffet after the wedding was enjoyable with many choices and great fresh fruit served in a pleasant dining room. As an extra treat two adorable little boys, sons of the innkeeper came around with baskets of The Best Homemade Cookies I ever tasted!! An added plus, the charming innkeeper shared the secret of the recipe with me as we were leaving. One of the best wedding weekends we've ever experienced.

The staff and property are great. The staff which feels like a family is very friendly and helpful and the setting is idyllic. I left an article of clothing behind and the staff returned it to me by mail the next day! Thanks again.

Most of the guests for my daughter's wedding in September stayed at Wake Robin and we were all impressed with the inn itself and its friendly staff. The rooms were most attractive and comfortable and the fact that there are the more affordable rooms in the former motel was much appreciated by the younger couples. We held a welcome party and a post-wedding brunch on the premises as well, with delicious food catered by Wake Robin. Many of the guests had not been to the area previously and were impressed with how lovely the area is.

My wife and I have stayed at various country inns and B&Bs in New England. Our experience over Thanksgiving at Wake Robin was undoubtedly the most enjoyable. The building is in excellent shape, with a welcoming lobby and various cozy rooms; our bedroom was large, elegant, and the bed was just right. Even in November we could open the windows. They serve a little breakfast, of course, and that was fine, with good coffee. The only quibble is that they lacked an exercise facility, although the location provides great walking, and the staff suggested some nearby gyms. What made the visit exceptional, I think, were the amenities and service. They provided a welcoming hot cider (or tea or coffee), with cookies and other edibles, and the staff was personable, willing to go the extra mile for service, and obviously proud of working there. All told, it was a very enjoyable experience to stay at the Wake Robin.
