RJ Julia's is an amazing independent bookstore but not every visitor sees its little cafe that has a lovely patio. Of course, it overlooks a parking lot but so do several other coffee shops. The coffee is good, food is fresh and service is efficient and friendly. Noboby is rushed so there can be a wait for a table. It's worth browsing the bookstore and returning when tables free up. If you have children with you, go upstairs to the kid's section while you are waiting. It's a pleasant way to absorb the Madison ambiance.
