We, the Greater Meriden Chamber of Commerce, hosted our holiday party last week at the Four Points by Sheraton in Meriden. The room was set for 200 people and we used all 3 sections of the ballroom with plenty of space for all of us to more around. It was very important for us to help facilitate the networking of our guests who come from diverse business backgrounds and industries.. The combination of sit-down dining tables and high-top tables kept the crowd moving and mingling.

Food was great and plentiful and the combination of self-serve, attended carving stations and butler passed worked well. We really liked the variety.

A good number of us "retired" to the Silver City Sports Bar after the event to continue the conversation. If our guests are hanging around, we know that they all had a good time.

My husband and I needed accommodations in the area after dropping our daughter off at school. We were looking for something clean, updated, and affordable and although this hotel claims to be renovated and clean, we were disappointed. The lobby is a construction zone, only one elevator (which barely makes it up to floor 6), and the hallways and common areas are old and dingy. Though the room had a superficial update, the mattress was old, phone receiver peeling, and bathroom stunk of cigarettes with a sour shower curtain. The front desk was somewhat apologetic and offered us 500 Starwood points as compensation. We would definitely not stay here again.

I use this hotel for regular meetings as it is a central location for people coming from various points in Connecticut. The restaurant staff is always on point and the food is served hot when supposed to be hot and with special requests taken into account. The rooms have been 100% updated - new furnishings and feel. They are about to unveil their brand new renovated ballroom as well and we may use that space as well for upcoming events. Access easy on and off various highway points and the staff friendly and even "bubbly" in the best of senses.

Every year I spend 100 nights at many different brands of Hotels. Last weekend I spent at Four Points in Meriden Ct. It really was a miserable weekend. No sleep. No Hot water. Only one Elevator AC/Heat system didn't work properly. Manager made corporate BS excuses. In the past four years, the chain that gives me the most problems is Sheraton Hotels. And all I get is BS from the managers and weak apologies. I used to think that Sheraton and Hiltons were the best chains. NO MORE. When I think of Sheratons, I am reminded of NO HEAT, NO HOT WATER, NOISE, MESSY ROOMS, AND CONSISTENT BAD ATTITUDES from their managers. You complain as I did about no hot water for shaving.. and it does no good. Stay away from Meriden until they change managers

Room Tip: Stay away on weekends..Loud noises at 2:00 am when Bar closes. If you have to stay there get a rear...

I was one of many guests staying at a block of rooms for a family wedding. Hospitality bags had been dropped off by the family members - they were not distributed to most of us - the bags contained important details such as what time our rides were leaving for the service. I got mine at check out when I saw the sign at the reception desk identifying the bags. Apparently many were shut out of the hotel as they were "sold out" yet we witnessed walk-up traffic getting rooms. The bar is a nightclub with pounding music, so there was no place to visit with friends after the wedding. The family arranged for a brunch the next morning - silverware was absent for the later comers. Finally, one of the elevators was broken - there were three groups in the hotel most checking out on Sunday. I am 62 and had to walk my suitcase down from the 6th floor. The young woman at the desk's response was that the part was on order and would be there soon - this was the same girl who when I called the day before told me that I probably would't be able to check in on time as they were too busy to get all the rooms cleaned. Housekeeping did a great job rooms are clean, linens good - but front desk was pretty slipshod. My sister needed a room with two double beds - was given a king so needed a cot for her son. Another family member wanted a King, but got a room with two double beds. All had been confirmed yet the details of the reservations were not honored. The family members who made the arrangements had much more to say. I won't stay there again.

Room Tip: bring your confirmation with you and be insistent. Ask for a manager if you don't get what you...

The room is actually clean and pretty nice. Clean carpet, good beds, comfortable. However, the overall facility is sort of like Detroit...vacant and a bit creepy. Thr front lobby and public areas all seemed to be vacant when we came...and not vacant in a good way.

This hotel has had a total renovation and we arrived just after all the rooms were done. My first room on the third floor was uninhabitable as the paint smell was making us ill so they changed us to a higher floor where rooms had been done earlier. The staff was very accomodating.
The view was lovely but not having fresh air with an operable window was tough. Most homes have windows that open, I wonder why few hotels do. They also use cleaning supplies and air fresheners that I am allergic to. A hotel chain that could advertise fresh air and hypoallergenic products including soaps would be very popular as more and more people become sensitive to the environment . I love the Four Points beds, linens and pillows and this hotel offers all of that. Once the construction odours clear, it will be a great place to stay. I did miss having a microwave though.

Room Tip: I loved the views on the sixth floor.
