“Perfectly Adequate and Met our Needs Just Fine”
Reviewed 1 October 2010

My husband and I have just finished teaching here in Middletown this week, and we stayed at the Passport Inn and Suites. It has met our needs just fine! It has all the basic things we needed - king sized bed, clean bathroom, table and chair to work on, reliable WiFi, cell phone service, sofa and coffee table, TV, a large dresser, refrigerator and a microwave to make our breakfast and heat up coffee and tea water.

It is clean and well appointed, and our room even has a walk-out balcony. It was 10 minutes away from where we were teaching this week at Middlesex Community College, and only several miles from downtown Middletown, where there are more variety of restaurants, many international, that you could possible cover even in month. There is an Indian Restaurant on site of the motel, which we'll probably try next week, as we will be back for the second week as we are teaching the rest of this course and will be again staying here at the Passport Inn.

Certainly there are fancier hotels/motels in Hartford, but it would cost you at least at double the price, which is fine if that is how you want to spend your money. Also it would have been a lot more daily driving and bucking all that traffic and not nearly as convenient. The folks at the Passport are gracious, helpful, and accommodating. For us, it's been a great place to call home for a week.

I arrived late at night and had second thoughts about staying. Mattresses stacked in the hallway (that must ba a fire hazzard) bad fluorescent light, unfinished parking lot. The hotel clerk/owner wouldn't honor the price I was quoted, instead jacked it up $10 because I needed a second bed for my teenage son (the lower price was previously agreed upon when we made the reservation in the morning). The decor i the room is entirely depressing, which completes the experience. At $77 a night, not good value at all. This is worth about half that. The ONLY positive is that there is free WiFi in the rooms.

I have stayed there 3 times to visit my son at Wesleyan. The place is clean and what choice do you have if you need to stay in Middletown: either The Inn at 150 a night or the place north of town, which is really really bad. I like the management at Passport, they also have a very good Indian restaurant downstairs.

Hard to find - about 3 miles from Middletown. Run by Indian family who manage the Indian restaurant next door - it's the only place to eat nearby but at least the meals are generous. The motel was cheap but very basic and quite shabby. Coffee was only available through a machine at the entrance and cost 50 cents.

This hotel is a PIT!! it was dirty, one of the 2 chairs near the table had the arm broken and hanging and the back of the chair was cracked, there wasn't even a tub, just a shower stall, the door to the common outside balcony didn't even have a lock on it, there was just a piece of wire screwed to the woodwork that looped around the doorknob! the door to the adjoining room had screws drilled into the woodwork to keep the door shut! One of the towels had big black stains on it! I repeat, do not stay in this hotel!
