This beautiful little B&B is right on the water overlooking the bridge over the Mystic River. The accomodations are superb and the staff made us feel very welcome. We'd go back in a flash!

The Steamboat Inn is a very nice inn to stay at in Mystic. The view of the Mystic River and the drawbridge are unbeatable. The inn's location make it the perfect place from which to walk around and explore all Mystic has to offer; it is also a short drive to museums and the aquarium. The rooms are clean and spacious and include a deep tub with hottub jets. The staff is nice and very helpful.

My best 2 summers (89 & 90) were spent working aboard the Schooner Voyager docked directly below this gem. Got a room in 1992 - proposed to my wife and have been back for anniversaries ever since. The staff is always wonderful and the homemade breakfast is tops! You can sip complimentary sherry before you head out to dinner. Upstairs rooms are smaller but have fireplaces. Lately we go for the newer downstairs rooms with no fireplace but more room and giant double whirlpool baths. We went on the cheap in 08 and took a room without river view and were pleased. Stroll to all the shops and restaurants - you will be glad you picked Steamboat trust me. We normally go in Dec (anniv month) when rates are low - can't say I would stay at premium Summer rates.

This is one of the nicest B&B's my wife and I have ever stayed in. I surprised her with a night here for our one year wedding anniversary, and it lived up to all the expectations I had. We stayed in Room 10, the only room in the Inn without a river view, and honestly, it didn't matter. At least not to us. I chose it because it was one of the largest rooms they had with a king size bed and a double whirlpool tub. We wanted to be pampered for the day and evening as much as possible. I will also say that I don't recall ever sleeping in a more comfortable bed and with such amazingly soft sheets. That was so nice. Everything was extremely clean and fresh smelling. Continental breakfast was probably above average.

As a sidenote, we ate dinner that evening at Bravo Bravo, and we were again thoroughly impressed and satisfied. Anyone staying at the Steamboat Inn can present their room keys to bartender there during happy hour and received half price cocktails, which we of course took full advantage of. And it only got better from there - our dinners were top notch (veal raviolis and short ribs).

All in all, we liked Mystic, but loved our Steamboat Inn accomodations even more. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our trip around New England. The hotel is in a lovely spot on the water and the rooms are beautiful. Due to it being so full, we changed rooms on the second night and I must say that both rooms were beautifully furnished, with seating areas where you can watch life on the water and very comfortable beds.
There is a continental breakfast included, which is very nice and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
The town itself is quite small, but very quaint and we decided to visit the aquarium because it has a really good Titanic exhibition, with a lot of input from Bob Ballard. Nearby Stonington is also pretty - even in the rain.
Try the S&P Oyster Company for really good seafood and head out of ton a mile or so to the fish market for excellent clam chowder.

We only had a night to escape from being parents. We took a chance on this property because we were at the New Haven train station late in the afternoon, on a rainy cold April Monday, with no where to go. They were very friendly and accommodating over the phone and we had our choice of rooms b/c they weren't full. This place is a gem! Downstairs rooms, right on a boardwalk overlooking the river, are HUGE and can hold a family of four easily. Upstairs rooms are cozier and have amazing views and working fireplaces and wonderful beds and other amenities. Plus generous breakfast included in a charming little breakfast room (way beyond continental ). I can't say enough. The hotel of our dreams.

This Inn was wonderful and met all of my expectations. My husband and I stayed only one night but I wish it could have been longer!
Upon check-in, we were escorted to our room (ARIADNE - Room 1) and given a tour and explanations of how to use the wood-burning fireplace, small flat-panel TV with DVD player and the double-size whirlpool bath. We were then led to the Common Room where they have teas, hot chocolate, bottled water and coffee as well as some games to play. There was also sherry and cookies available in the afternoon.
The queen bed was comfortable and the sheets were really soft. There were also 3 different types of pillows to choose from which was great as I am picky about pillows. Another plus was the shower – the pressure was great and the water was hot. There was also a hair dryer in the bathroom.
The Steamboat Inn is right on the Mystic River and located steps from Main Street where great shops and restaurants are all within walking distance.
Decent coffee was available in the Common Room at 7 AM. We didn't take advantage of the included continental breakfast so I can’t comment on that (but it looked tasty).
It was a quiet romantic get-away and I would most certainly return for another (hopefully extended!) stay in the future.
