“About what you would expect from a Comfort Inn”

We spent the night July 5th during a road trip. It's close to the Old Mystic Village and a short drive to downtown. It wasn't anything special - just a place to sleep. Nothing negative to report - just your run of the mill Comfort Inn. I do think that it seemed a bit expensive - but there wasn't really anything cheaper around.

It's Mystic - It's summer. Where can you find a decent hotel for under $90(weekdays). This is your "value hotel". Yes it is small, yes it is older. It was very clean, very comfortable, bathroom was redone with nice wood cabinets and tile floor. It was quite for the most part, only noise was people slamming their doors when they left their room. The breakfast area is very small, the wait is long and the Wi-Fi was touch and go but all in all worth the stay

Never again. Wallpaper peeling off the walls. Pillowcases that smell like dirty head......someone else's head......The room smells musty.....the A/C is iffy........the phone smells like urine. Horror movie stuff.

This past weekend my wife and I reserved 3 rooms for our family. We have stayed at this hotel in the past and were always satisfied. It was incredible to see how far it had deteriorated since our last stay. We are Choice Privileges members and we are close to cancelling our membership. The room was dated and worn. The rugs in the public areas were stained, dirty and need to be replaced. The pool area showed signs that no one cleaned the area the entire weekend.
Check in was a horror. I have never seen so many upset people. We checked in on a Friday and the front desk people claimed there was a delay cleaning the rooms because it was a weekend. More than one person reminded them that the rooms were dirty from a Thursday....not a weekend. It was the first time I actually witnessed people yelling at hotel staff. It was obvious, staff could not handle an irate crowd.. In fact, they shared some responsibility in causing the problem.
This is a smoking hotel. We had rooms on the first floor and had to walk by the smoking rooms before getting to our room. The hallways stunk of smoke. There was no signage at the pool and we were disappointed to see people smoking.
The one positive experience was the comp breakfast. While the breakfast was just OK, I was impressed with the one member of the hotel staff that understood customer service. A lovely lady named Carol worked to make sure everyone had what they needed.
Bottom line........Keep reading Tripadvisor to see if they turn themselves around.

Room Tip: If you are a non smoker, ask for a room as far away from smoking as possible.

Stayed at Comfort Inn, Mystic, CT this week. We stay here often. Hotel rooms are clean and quiet. The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and small exercise room. The hotel staff is very nice but many times there is only one desk clerk and, if busy, it could take a while to get into your room. I would suggest getting there ahead of booking time, check in and then go to lunch. The hotel is very close to Mystic Aquarium, Mystic Village and Seaport.

Hallway was awfully hot as it seemed that they had no air conditioning. I feel for the maids. The hallway also wasn't as clean as it could have been and the carpet is starting to wear. There is only one elevator and that is close to the front desk. If you get a room at the other end of the hotel, you will need to walk the stairs with your luggage or park near elevator and walk the long hot hallway.

They do provide a continental breakfast but beware, in the summer, the breakfast area is packed and difficult to get in. Breakfast is only served until 9:00 during the week so plan on waking up early if you want the free breakfast. There is a Dunkin Donuts, Friendly's, McDonalds and a Diner within minutes of the hotel if you want to go out for breakfast and escape the chaos.

Room Tip: Ask for a room closer to elevator.

The Comfort Inn, Mystic, is a lovely hotel. The rooms were clean, the beds comfy and the staff tried to be helpful. Beware, not all rooms have a refrigerator and requesting one on a busy weekend is useless. We were at this hotel for five days and finally received the refrigerator two days before we left. Other than that problem our stay was pleasurable.

Room Tip: Read the hotel's amenities prior to booking and you'll know what to expect.

We were on a road trip and stayed in a series of hotels over a 2 week period. Out of all the hotels we stayed in, this is the only one we wouldn't recommend to others. We should have moved on from the moment we checked in. There was a line of people at the desk and the only person at the front desk chose to answer the phone and give detailed directions to someone trying to find the hotel. Now, I understand that this happens, but there were six people in line waiting for minutes as she clarified and re-clarified directions. A man (who seemed to be the manager) came out and helped with a customer having trouble, but then chose to go back to his office instead of helping with the customers. Many in line were having eyes with each other because we were trying to be nice, yet becoming frustrated. After getting our keys and re-entering our specific hallway, it was evident the air-conditioning didn't work in the hallways. There were huge fans set up as air-movers...a second indicator we should choose to go elsewhere. The room was out dated, but I guess that's okay...but then right before bed, my husband noticed a soft spot in the floor...about a 2 feet by 1 foot area. He called down to the desk to tell them and their response was, Hmmmm....not sure what to tell you. The two of us just chose not to walk on that spot...again, we should have left...you're right. Then, in the middle of the night a bug crawled on me. It was what we call a "stink bug". Yeah, bugs get into rooms, but this just confirmed we needed to leave. At the break of day we chose to just get out. We didn't trust eating the breakfast...
