“Hands down best Thai around. Period.”
Reviewed 24 July 2013

Always loved this place, as former Rice Spice Noodles, but is even better now! They have added to the already spectacular menu while keeping most of the same dishes as before. A little Vietnamese addition was the Pho, and it's out of this world. For $8 it easily serves as an entree and is one of my new favorites. Some old classics to try are the drunken noodles, pad thai, mixed seafood panang curry, prigh king with pork, and the duck curry (just to name a few!) Can't go wrong with anything here and they are looking into adding a bar in the restaurant, as they already have there liquor permit!

“Vibrant Thai”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

4 Roosevelt is under revised ownership from its prior incantation as Rice, Spice and Noodle. Our previous two visits were to R,S and N for lunch, this being our first for dinner and as 4 Roosevelt. What a pleasant surprise. The simple and well-tailored room was essentially full and with clearly well-turned out people at that. The basic menu included the usual Thai fare and the specials menu built upon that with both Thai and non-Thai offerings. My calamari appetizer and pad Thai entree were among the best I've ever had, including in NYC where I live during the week. My partner's summer rolls and basil duck were similarly outstanding. This place is clearly a winner and keeper.

Two thoughts though: the room's vibrant buzz can border on "noisy" and some thought might be given to sound attenuation; and, the delivery of our entrees within seconds of receiving our appetizers was not appreciated. An expediter would be useful here, and frankly, the kitchen (or server) should have dumped the entrees and started from scratch rather than reveal such timing ineptitude, annoying these two experienced dining guests. That said, we'll consider this a one-off snafu that won't hamper a return visit.

Note that as of our visit on 7/12/13 a liquor license was not yet in hand as we discovered after being seated. So for now it's BYOB and fortunately a well-stocked package store is nearby. We were told that a liquor license is two weeks away.

“So hard to choose”
Reviewed 29 June 2013

We were so sad when Rice, Spice, Noodle was closed. It was fantastic and seemed to do a great business. It was puzzling. The new incarnation is much the same. I wanted to order everything on the menu. We had lunch there today and the four of us were all very pleased. I had grilled shrimp and scallops over pasta. It was nice and spicy as advertised. Server was friendly and perfectly attentive. Only regret was that we didn't realize it was BYOB and that we didn't have time for dessert. We live in Mystic and will be making this one of our regular spots.

“This is the old Rice, Spice and Noodles under going change”
Reviewed 6 June 2013

Rice has been overhauled and restored to its previous high level of cookery and service. See recent reviews of Rice, Spice and Noodles. The food is excellent as well as the service. They need to spend some money on new chairs but otherwise it is grat. And also it has BYOB which increases the value of the meal. Well worth a trip.
