I'm really not a fan of the Holiday Express hotels and I feel like eveything is really cheap - except for the reate. My husband and I spent one night there after a concert at Mohegan Sun Arena as we didn't want to make the 3 hour drive home at night.

It's clean and convenient but nothing special.

Not sure what everyone expects from a Holiday Inn Express but it was very clean, looked brand new, had a huge room with 2 beds, a pull out couch and was very afforable.

The best part of the hotel is that is is 5 minutes wlaking to either the Mystic Aquarium or Olde Mistick Village - a shopping village with 60+ unique shops and restaurants plus a movie theatre. Plus you are 5 minutes by car from the Seaport Musuem.

No over the top service or charm - just a great price for a huge room that was was immaculate and near all the attractions in Mystic.

This standard, duplicated, sterile and passionless Holiday Inn has all the charm of you local hospital. It's anticeptically barren, lifeless and bland. The hospital cafeteria is in the lobby as you walk in, and speaks nothing about place, time or hotel. The Holiday Inn isn't dirty, rude or uncomfortable -- it's just charmless. The rooms could easily fit three patient beds and the TV's are uncomfortably small given the width of the room. There is no restaurant, but there's an equally anticeptic cafe dowm the hill that serves red jello and flavorless pancakes. Enjoy!

Room Tip: They are all the same and there are no views.

We stayed here to visit Mystic Aquarium & Olde Mystic Village with two children. It was a great hotel and perfect location!

Rooms:
Very large, Queen beds were great and very comfortable! Refrigerator and microwave were nice and it had a couch and table/seating area. The air/heat worked great and it was very clean. The shower was weak but dud the trick. The bathroom was spacious and plenty of towels and washcloths were provided. Toiletries and hair dryer were provided.

Pool:
Small but great. Warm and clean. The kids loved it. The nearby hot tub was nice, also clean. Plenty of pool towels available and comfy lounge chairs were provided.

Front Desk:
Very friendly and offered area information. We had a great experience because our first day was very rainy and stormy and they offered great suggestions and directions.

Breakfast:
Hot breakfast available until 9:30am. Great selection, readily replenished and cleaned constantly. Hot pancake machine, muffins, toast and bagels. Hot eggs, ham, bisquits and gravy. Nice start to the day and nice not to have to travel to a restaurant for a pricey breakfast.

Location:
Walking distance to the Aquarium (not next door but walking distance) and the Village was right across the street. Boathouse restaunt is in the parking lot. Minutes away from the Seaport and all the restaurants and happenings.

Would recommend to anyone. It's not the cheapest option, not the priciest option. But worth the price we paid. We will definitely say again when visiting Mystic!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 136, 1st floor close to the pool

I booked a room at this hotel because I was going to a concert at the Mohegan Sun. Property was easy to find from the interstate and closer to Mohegan than I realized. Arrived just after 5:30p on a Monday. No front desk clerk to be found. The phone was ringing and not a staff member in sight. After about ten minute wait staff appeared. Checked in and went to the room. Initially found the room to be "okay" at best but didn't look overly closely because we had a concert to get to. Booked a room with a whirlpool. I was not impressed. Simple standard room with a old, worn down whirlpool in the corner.

Headed out to the concert. Returned to the hotel late, about 1a. We now had time to take a closer look at the room. There were alot of "little things" wrong. Overall, it seemed that the room was in great need of some care. Stains on both the curtain and shower curtain. Rug ripped and torn. No ice bucket liner. Plastic, not glass, drinking cups. TV remote was sticky. And the most random thing of all, no clock anywhere in room.

Checked out the next day. The clerk was somewhat friendly but not useful. I asked for a "zero balance folio" (which I have learned to always obtained from a hotel) and she seemed confused by the request. I told her the hotel was in need of some attention and I wasn't impressed. She said "sorry" and left it at that.

Now I realize alot of people post reviews and some are rather infrequent travelers. I'm not one of them. I'm a Platinum Elite guest and travel about 35 to 40 nights per year for various reasons. I mostly have wonderful stays at Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza. But, once in a while, one like this comes along. I'm not one to complain but I expect what I pay for. A clean, comfortable hotel with good service. Mystic missed the mark by far.

I had two more stays booked for August. Those, obviously, have been cancelled. I will find another property because this one is not worthy of a return visit. The sad truth, it COULD be a great hotel. Just some basic upkeep and customer service. It's too bad... waste of great location.
