The gripes: On a hot day in July, the elevators are warm. (a/c doesn't reach 'em). This hotel could use a hot tub and a slightly larger gym. There are some mighty large bees in the flowers alongside the pool. The a/c is a wall unit rather than central.
The terrific stuff: Absolutely everything else!
The Hyatt Place is listed as a three-star, but size is the only thing that sets this apart from most of the top Marriotts and Hiltons I've been to. This is a wildly stylish, sharp, superbly run property.
The decor is West Coast hip, with a hint of Southwest and a bigger hint of Asia. Lots of single-color pottery/scultpure, L.A.-style lighting and furniture, even edgy/sleek plateware in the breakfast buffet. Brilliant lobby: The front desk doubles as a restaurant counter, and they have hot food available 24 hours. The staff is wonderfully cheerful and helpful; Val, who checked me in, should be a chainwide trainer for reception staff. Truly a hospitable, warm welcome.
Free in-room wifi, free business center Internet with free printing, superb continental breakfast with upscale fresh fruit, in-room safe & robes, & ironing supplies & hair dryer & small fridge. Huge flat-screen TV with a ton of auxiliary source hookups available.
Smartly designed room sets the king bed off in the back behind a sort of quarter-width Japanese-style wall/screen ... the huge front area is an L-shaped couch with ottoman, a work desk with excellent chair, and the kitchen area. The effect is spaciousness, but without wasted room.
Intelligence is shown throughout the layout and furnishing; the result is a feeling of a small suite with done with modern but impeccable taste. A boutique atmosphere, but without any of the silly frilly stuff - or the snide attitude.
A small 24-7 gym is on the ground floor, and a nice heated outdoor pool with sundeck is just beyond the south door. (the staff said they're already working on the bee problem). Immaculate, quiet, very guest-oriented ... I truly did not want to check out. At this price range, the Hyatt Place Mystic is a bargain & a joy at the same time.

My wife & I were seeing the Michael Buble concert at Mohegan Sun, and since it was a surprise, I wanted to make sure we had a CLEAN, nice place to stay. As soon as we entered the sparkling lobby, we were greeted by super friendly and very helpful personnel. They answered all our questions ( where to walk to, directions to both casinos....). We were offered very early check-in if we wanted a room near the elevator, which we declined. Were still able to check-in early once a top-floor of 3 room available. The room was super clean, very large and super comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was more than adequate, the work staff did their best to clean up and keep everything stocked. (Cinnamon french toast at $6.50 WORTH it). Probably could have gotten a room for a few dollars less, but location (next to Old Mystic Village shops -wife, 2 minutes from seaport, middle of both casinos, its worth it. Spend the few extra $$, even for 1 night, as the Hyatt Place is WELL worth the $$, just for the cleanliness and helpful/friendly staff alone. Definitely will go again.

Stayed here on our way through to Cape Cod, and I have to say it is a beautiful hotel and the rooms are large and comfy, however the only negative thing i could say about this hotel is the way the breakfast area is set up, much to small to move around during the busy hours in the morning, other than that, its a great place, i will return.

We spent 5 nights in the Hyatt Place and were very pleased with the room and the amenities. The room, as descibed by other reviewers, is large with a seating area as well as the bed area . This means you can lounge around watching the very large TV from the sofa or from the bed! There is cofee/tea making which is nice as is the fridge. You can get ice for the G &Ts!

The outside pool was very welcome as it was very hot and it was very clean and well maintained.

You can go online free from their computers or take your own. I didn't have a laptop with me and always found I could alwasy find a free computer.

There is free parking and you can walk to the aquarium and Mystic Seaport, but really need to drive down town. The Mystic Village is nearby with lots of shops and restaurants, within walking distance.

Staff all very polite and hepful. No complaints at all. There is a continental breakfast included, but you can purchase a hot breakfast.

Was a bit busy at the weekend with lots of kids, but it was Father's Day! No problem with noise in the room. Aircon welcome!

This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel. It's a modern hotel with big rooms. There's a living room space with a large sectional sofa that converts into a spare bed. The beds are comfortable. The room has a 42" plasma TV with a wide variety of connectors, so that you can connect your computer or your own audio/video equipment to the TV.
The shower has nice water pressure. The bathroom sink is outside the bathroom and there's a kitchen sink above a refrigerator on the other side of the room. The only negative in the room is that the refrigerator didn't get very cold. It's probably broken.
The continental breakfast was good. They offer hot food for additional cost.
The outdoor swimming pool was nice and clean.
The staff is friendly and helpful.

Spent the weekend there after a 2hr drive from NYC with my wife. The first thing that struck me was the layout of the lobby. You feel like you just walked into a Starbucks! There's a small counter just after you enter through the doors where you check in, and little tables all around the room. Even down to the grab N go snack counter. I never encountered a line, and the desk clerks were always friendly and personable.
The style extended to our room with 1 king bed. As mentioned in another review, the room was split, with a large couch and ottoman on one side and comfy bed on the other. One drawback I felt was that the heater/ac right under the window by the side of the bed ends up blowing a little strongly, even on low, against the wall that splits the rooms, so you kind of feel it on the bed. Would be better if it blew centrally into the room, and there is no way to deflect the airflow. The separate vanity from the toilet/shower room was nice, as was the kitchenette with microwave and sink and personal safe with key. The 42" LCD TV was in-between the rooms, and was incredibly user friendly with a separate panel for plugging in inputs such as vga, hdmi, composite and audio cables. But bring your own as they have a sparse supply of extras. Luckily, they had a vga cable so I could watch a dvd movie on my laptop on the big screen. Overall, I like the room layout also which I thought was unique.
I did not use the fitness room(open 24hrs), which looked new, but only had 2 treadmills, an elliptical and a recumbent bike. I think they all had tv monitors. No pool though.
The free continental breakfast wasn't anything impressive; bagels, toast, danish, cereal, cut fruit etc.
The location was fine, close to Old Mistic Village and just 5 mins away from the seaport area.
I would definitely stay there again.

The Hyatt Place Mystic in Mystic, CT, was an amazing value! The first thing you notice when you walk through the doors is a vague smell that makes you take another deep breath, relaxing you instantly. If you have chemical sensitivities or are allergic to certain scents, I would recommend that you call ahead of time for the particulars. Matt & I found the smell to be clean and relaxing. The whole hotel smelled of this wonderful aroma. The staff was PHENOMENAL. There was a line when we walked in, but someone was sure to let us know that we would be assisted shortly. Upon check-in, the hospitality staff comes around the counter to speak with you directly, giving you a list of all the area phone numbers, emergency clinics, etc. They also give you a map of the Mystic area and have a binder filled with menus from the area restaurants. With this information in mind, we went to our room, dropped off our bags and went down to the Wine and coffee bar. I had a glass of pinot and Matt had a glass of red while we laughed and talked to Jaime and Melissa, the two women behind the desk. They were knowledgable about many of the restaurants we questioned and just great women all around. Now about the rooms... Again, I cannot stress how great a value this hotel was for the money. Each room is divided into two areas with a small divider: the "living" area has an "L" shaped sectional that I believe pulls out into a bed. There is a huge ottoman, a blanket for snuggling, a computer desk, wet bar complete with a coffee makers. In the middle of the room is a HUGE 42" flat-screen plasma TV that rotates so you can watch TV from either the sofa or bed. The bed was very comfortable. We both really liked the fact that only the toilet and shower were behind the bathroom door. The vanity was located just outside the door and there was also a small sink at the wet bar, so we were both able to get ready without getting in each other's way -- what a great way to start the day! ; ) I know this is getting pretty long, but I feel I must mention the food, wine and coffee amenities. They have a "grab & go", which is pre-made sandwiches, salads, and bakery items, all made on the premises. If nothing catches your interest there, they have a limited menu that you can order anything from a personal sized pizza, burgers, nachos, etc. I'm not sure if they bring it to you or if you have to go and pick it up, but it was very unique and I really thought it was a cool concept.
