Throughout my years in New Haven this has always been my favorite park. In the beginning, large, spread out, and walled-in it was a place to take my dog for a walk away from city traffic. Then, when I had kids, it was a place to walk a fussy baby to sleep while enjoying the fresh air. When the kids got a little older is was a great place to let them run off some energy. It also has some great sledding hills in winter. It's pefect for enjoying the fall foliage. It's a perfect place to jog all year long. Weather permitting people often take part in Tai Chi and yoga here too. It is a popular place to have photographs taken, especially wedding photos. It's also popular for farmer's markets, festivals, concerts and theatrical events. It has a greenhouse which you can visit and view plants as well as at times purchase plants and flowers. If you live in New Haven or you are just passing through take a break and enjoy a little nature at Edgerton Park.

A wonderful walled park. Great place to picnic or just to go for a stroll. The former Brewster estate which was left to the City of New Haven, it is very well maintained and it feels as if you are in extensive park land with wonderful old trees. Usually very quiet and peaceful, it is not familiar to the general public, but is the venue for "Shakespeare in the Park" in the fall. There are also wonderful gardens and a greenhouse that produces plants for sale.

First discovered this as the venue for Shakespeare in the park, concerts, festivals even a taichi class. It's a wonderful place to take a short walk and relax for an hour or so roaming along little paths. Lots of dog walkers. Nice greenhouse. Some lovely hidden areas.

We were here for an intimate wedding on a week day. It was the perfect setting. Wall enclosed, away from traffic, lots of trees, a fountain, only a few people walking their dogs, all of whom (people and dogs) were very respectful of the ceremony being held. It is located just a short distance north of downtown New Haven off of Church/Whitney Avenue Street.

This park is just a lovely stroll. The carriage house has a stone angel on top. The bridge is now hidden by over growth but you can see its former glory. The fountain is nice, too.
