Lives up to the high expectations set in other reviews. We've stopped here a few times on our way up to Vermont or Maine and it's always been delicious. When there's a line, it moves quickly and the pizza is worth the wait. Family friendly. White clam pizza & original tomato with mozzarella are our favorites. Crust is unbeatable - thin but chewy and charred. Wished we lived closer!

I ordered the clam pizza with mozzarella cheese and it was without a doubt the best pizza I've ever had. The ingredients were fresh and complimented each other perfectly, and the crust was charred to perfection and the ingredients. Perfect example of how something so simple can be just as delicious as a complex pizza and how restaurants should emphasize quality over time. I cannot recommend this enough, please check it out.

If there was any doubt that New Haven has a "real" Little Italy, this place will put that to rest real quick!
Had a house salad and we split a large "meat" pizza. Pizza came out of a real well seasoned wood fired oven!
Definitely nothing comparable or close in Nashville!

When I get visitors from the US, it is always the same story. We want to go to Pepe. Sometimes I do not manage to convince them otherwise, and I am forced to stand in line for a pizza which is burned, undigestible, overoily, filled with Glutammate or similar. You eat tradition and bad food.

This pizzeria in New Haven is the most popular spot in the Little Italy section with lines of students (presumably), families, and visitors. There seems to be a line for tables.

We were a bit confused since there was a smaller building with the sign announcing that it was Frank Pepe Pizzeria also. It turned out to be the original Frank Pepe restaurant and the longer line was for the newer part. Both had the same menu.

We went to the older part since we could obtain a table immediately. Had the white pizza with clams. It was quite good.
Our server wasn't particularly friendly and was a bit curt. I guess they are just overworked.

Went in the kitchen and looked at the wood-fired oven where the cooks prepared and cooked the pizzas.
