“Without a doubt the best new place in the City.”
Reviewed 8 May 2010

This small but wonderful restaurant is fairly new to the City of New London. It is easy to find in a good part of the City with easy parking and full of surprises. Reasonable prices on EVERYTHING from home made soups and appetizers, to succulent entrees and home made desserts. His menu is also full of many fresh local seafood dishes that are as good as it gets, including, mussells, fish and scallops. Specifically, his Italian soup, made with broccoli rabe, swiss chard and beans in a chicken stock is killer and only $3., his mussells marinara are plentiful and are as well done as you can find and for only $6., and it is hard to tell you whether to eat his chicken francaise or fish because they both will melt in your mouth. Make sure you leave room for some strawberry key lime pie....perfectly sweet and tart to cap off a fine meal. The wine selections are modest but they have very nice drinkable bottles starting at $16. or $5. per glass and prices like these are rare. Chaplins is a do not miss the opportunitty for great dining at great prices in an intimate setting and you would be wise to call for a reservation.
