For a nice daytrip, Just get in your car and head to New London CT. There you will find
Abbott"s in the rough. I recommend the meal which starts you off with a small bag of clams, then you get a nice lobster, corn on the cob, and coleslaw. All this to eat as you sit at the picnic tables
outside watching the boats in the water. It is a very enjoyable adventure and the price is
not to out of the ordinary. A good time was had by all !!!!

Great place during the warm days. Sitting outside, enjoying good seafood and watching the sail boats in the Mystic River. We usually get the lobster roll. Highly recommended.

We LOVE their lobster roll. They have a regular size and what the call OMG size. It's love in a bun. They are not cheap, but boy oh boy, as soon as you taste one of those OMG lobster roll, you are happy you bought it. I've also had their clams and their clam chowder soup both very good. You can either sit inside their shack, go outside under the canopy, or sit in the open by the dock. They have wires overhead to prevent the seagulls from landing on you. Afterwards you can go to the dock and feed the striped bass below your oyster crackers. They sell sodas/pops but no alcohol, so bring your own if you wish to drink. You will see many people with beer and wine bottles. Very laid back easy atmosphere. Enjoy!

We've been to Abbott's and Costello's (sister restaurant down the street) many times. It is a must when we are in the Mystic area. This summer, we took friends and family there with the intention of gorging ourselves on their fresh lobster. So so good. Wow. The cocktail shrimp was tough/tasteless, which seems to be a pattern (tried three times now, not ordering it again). I don't recommend it. The lobster bisque is exquisite. The ambience of the shack is perfect for the area. You can sit inside, on the lawn or even right on a dock overlooking the beautiful water. They are closed during the winter. We look forward to returning again in the spring.

We re-visited this local institution after an almost 20 year hiatus. It's still good food, good fun and good atmosphere -- all of which add up to the reasons why this place has been around since 1947!

We had lobster bisque, lobster rolls and corn on the cob. All were tasty, well prepared and served quickly, despite being there on a busy summer Saturday night.

Yes, it's popular with the tourists, but the menu is reasonably priced. Lots of kids and families, but it IS a casual place (picnic tables outdoors, and paper placemats inside. However, the food and the view overcome any "touristy" aspects to the place.

We'll be back in the Mystic area next summer and will, undoubtedly, return to Abbott's.
