“Surprising Norwalk”
Reviewed 4 August 2012

Norwalk has about 16 islands making a cute archipelago just about a mile offshore. The tidiest way to see them, and even get out on one to walk around a bit, is the Sheffield Island Ferry. Bring your own sunblock and a snack, cuz there are VERY few amenities on the island. But, wow what a surprise; islands off Norwalk. Pick a day with nice weather and the trip will just make you smile.

“Ferry in July was lovely on the water”
Reviewed 25 July 2012

Took about an hour, and was lots of fun on a beautiful July day.
Had a snack at the snack bar, but wished there was more food to buy. Nonetheless, the scenery was lovely right on the Long Island Sound, The boat ride back was equally enjoyable.

“A wonderful way to spend a summer's day!”
Reviewed 24 June 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon on Sheffield Island! The ferry ride to the island was smooth, relaxing and interesting, as one of the crew members pointed out the landmark sights along the way and was extremely knowledgeable - we even saw egret nests! We had never been to Sheffield Island before, so we're amazed at the bygone beauty of it's historical lighthouse, built in the 1800's. We walked the trails, took pictures, had a snack, then set up chairs we had brought and just took in the unspoiled beauty. There were families with kids, you can bring coolers, frisbees, and there are picnic tables and covered areas. We loved our day on Sheffield Island and plan on going back often.

“Good Summer Fun”
Reviewed 17 May 2012

Scenic boat ride from the dock to the Island. Don't miss out on the Thursday night clambakes. Great menu choices at a good price and the food is excellent.
