“Meerkats and more!”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

This was our second visit to the aquarium and it did not disappoint!
Although there is a large variety of sea life, our favorite pastime is watching the six, or so, meerkats frolicking within their natural-looking habitat. These adorable creatures are part of the mongoose family. Don't miss the jellyfish exhibits, as well. They offer a hypnotic experience!
The sharks are amazing to watch, as well as the rays, which are in a touch tank.
They also have a narrated exhibit with seals, which have been trained to perform tasks.
Plan to spend several hours, especially if you view one of the paid IMAX presentations.

“Good Place When Weather is Bad”
Reviewed 27 December 2013 via mobile

Have visited a couple times, this time while it was a little too cold to go outside. A little pricey ( but most museums are now...), and show not included in admission. Parking a little tight unless you get there fairly early. If you need a place to let the kids wander & get something educational along the way, this is good. Otherwise I prefer taking them to the beach! Definitely a bit smaller than museums of this nature that are much further away from the ocean & line to get into the theater show starts early!

“Excellent way to learn about the LI Sound”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

This aquarium had an amazing variety of different displays full of educational info as well as beautiful creatures. The jellyfish exhibit was spectacular. We even got to pet a shark! For the seal show, Vicki, the trainer gave us a great appreciation for these lovely local marine mammals. We have come back many times, and it is always an interesting place to visit.

“Excellent visit!”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

The Maritime Aquarium has a really interesting mixture of creatures and other entertainment, including an IMAX Theater. Lots of fun stuff for the kids, including touch tanks, and the jellyfish are amazing, both in the beautifully lit tanks and in the area where they let you see how they are cultured. And their seal show is special -- the seals seem really bonded with the trainers, and there's lots of interesting information and nothing artificial about it. It's easy to spend many hours there.

“What a great place!”
Reviewed 16 December 2013

This in an excellent melding of an aquarium and a maritime museum. The live exhibits are fun, engaging, and well done. This is well worth visiting numerous times. It's large, and you can't really appreciate it all in one visit. Great place for kids and families, especially.
