“Scaring Up Some History in Norwichtown”
Reviewed 7 July 2012

If you want to get a good feel about a town, visit their old cemeteries! The Norwichtown Historic Cemetery aka the Colonial Cemetery has some very interesting old headstones along with the graves of Benedict Arnold's mother and Samuel Huntington who was the President of the Second Continental Congress. When you visit, be sure to visit both the front area of the cemetery as well as the back area which is accessed via a bridge over a small stream. If you walk all the way to the back of the older portion of the cemetery (once you've crossed over the bridge) you'll see Samuel Huntington's former home to your right (it is now used as a community building) and a set of gates which were originally located in downtown Norwich and were erected at the cemetery by the Daughters of the Revolution to commemorate those colonial soldiers who are buried in the cemetery.

“Worth a trip”
Reviewed 28 June 2012

The cemetary is small but very old. Gravestone rubbings can be done here. There is a section that French soldiers are buried in that were killed in the revolutionary war.

“Nice old colonial and newer cemetary”
Reviewed 25 July 2011

If you like to look at old cemetery stones this is a nice place. Very peaceful. Not a ghost or a haunt by touch, feel or sight. Even after dark. Benedict Arnold is buried in London and only his mother is buried here. Samuel Huntington is buried nearby. I've been on the haunted walk in October and was disappointed that they never mention at least one criminal who might have been hung in the town, a survivor of a plague or flu that passed through, or even a tale of what might have been seen from the top of the nearby meetinghouse rocks. The only upside is visiting the cemetery was free.
