The initial attraction was the promise of an authentic (other than the decorative doodads and the indispensable electricity!) colonial setting and the great reviews for this place. It got better with the special weekday pricing deal (for a December visit). The enjoyment built with warm greetings upon arrival and an introduction to the amenities (including homemade cookies and after dinner port wine!). An excellent dinner in town set the stage for a wonderful evening in front of a cheery fire - wine glasses and corkscrew provided in the room - we never even made it to the jacuzzi. One of the most enjoyable evenings of my life (and I am 60 and have traveled the world). Followed by delightful conversation over a sumptuous breakfast and a leisurely checkout. Finally, after we left, it was only minutes to a walk along the Connecticut River waterfront or along Long Island Sound. If you are looking for a B&B near the Connecticut shoreline, Deacon Timothy Pratt's lodgings are not to be missed.

Very quaint B&B. The buildings are close to 250 years old and the owner has taken care to maintain the building without destroying any of the original construction. The B&B is located on a main street in Old Saybrook, but it really didn't take anything away from the experience. Breakfast was wonderful and the owner is knows how to treat his guests.

Looking for a place to stay in CT as a first time visitor to the US. After visiting a lot of websites, this one was the most in favour. Booked for a week, stayed without regrets. Loved the old house answering to every step you'll take. Strange to have to seek history in "New England" as we do not poses this on that level in Belgium and Holland. A bed and breakfast I'll never forget and probably will return to on my next visit to the US. The staff of Deacon Timothy Pratt pampered my in just the pleasant way, giving my all the privacy I wanted.

We had stayed here two years ago for a wedding anniversary. My husband and I decided to go for a ride with a change of clothes and our toiletries not knowing where we would end up. Leaving Newport we headed toward western RI and then crossed over into CT.. We enjoyed beautiful scenic roads, but quickly realized not much else and my husband decided we should head towards the coast to one of our favorite places. So we took a chance and lucked out and got a room at a favorite B&B in a favorite place in CT.. Deacon Timothy Pratt B&B in Old Saybrook. We were delighted and had a wonderful stay. The only thing I have to complain about is someone ate all the cookies from the cookie jar!!!! haha We always feel welcome and Luna felt welcomed too. We will definitely be back from time to time. The staff is always very pleasant and helpful too. thank you and keep baking!!! John and Robin Gerardi

This quaint and historic B & B has everything you need to forget the stress-filled working-week life. We escaped from NYC to find Deacon Timothy Pratt Bed and Breakfast an oasis of relaxation and charm.

The room (Library Room) was beautiful and comfortable. The grassy back yard/garden with swing, chairs, bench and hammock was a great place to spend quiet time and I fell asleep in the hammock for hours at a time. The staff was helpful and friendly. The food was good, the dining room beautiful and it's a short walk from restaurants, shopping and the waterfront.

I recommend it highly!
