Lovely 1730 frame house with large yard that includes maple-trees the owners tap for the syrup to pour on Dave's delicious pancakes. We had spacious room and bath upstairs, but narrow stairway for carrying luggage. Owners very kind and helpful, recommending restaurants and sights plus giving us a card for free appetizer or dessert at Anthony Jack's in Southington. Dave and Mary served wonderful breakfasts (including fresh fruit and yogurt plus hot dishes, all homemade). They also left homebaked chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies in afternoon for a snack. Common room with Keurig coffee maker plus guest refrigerator and microwave with adjoining deck overlooking shady backyard. Close to highway but rural atmosphere with Southington the closest town.

Room Tip: Believe there are only two rooms. Ours was on front of house so you could hear noise of morning traffic, but lovely view over side yard.

My wife, daughter, and I stayed at this B & B in the beginning of June for several days. The historic home has a great appeal and is decorated very appropriately. Mary and Dave made sure we had everything we needed. The location is great, allowing quick access to restaurants, attractions, and the major highways. We would recommend this B & B to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Captain Josiah Cowles Place. Mary and Dave are perfect hosts, making great recommendations for sightseeing and dining. The house is historic, of course, but also quite welcoming. The area has lots of attractions and the B&B, just two minutes from the freeway exits, is close to Hartford, New Haven, Waterbury, and other spots in central Connecticut. Highly recommended.

Captain Joshua Cowles Place was the ideal place for us to stay over on our trip from Boston to Pittsburgh. Mary and David Potter were very gracious hosts and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The large room and the bath were spotlessly clean well equipped.
The breakfast was a treat, too.
We will make sure to plan our next trip to include a stop at the Potter's.

I recently stayed at Dave & Mary's charming B & B - and it couldn't have been lovelier! The room was large and comfy with every amenity. Dave & Mary were wonderful and charming - and made us a fabulous breakfast of pancakes and homemade maple syrup! I wish I had found them sooner, as my son lived in the area. I will Definitely be back! Absolutely top-rate!!

Room Tip: Loved "Mary's Room"
