“Overpriced”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

stayed here for 2 nights and it was the most expensive place we stayed in for 3 weeks in Greece. while the décor and pool etc., were nice, it was way overpriced for such a small room. The power lines in front of the pool obscured the view a little. While the service was satisfactory, it paled in comparison to other hosts in Greece, who were usually very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: bubble gum was quite small

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in mid-August. This is a very elegant hotel, located only a few minutes away from the centre of Vathi and offering stunning views of the harbour. This is a good enough reason to stay at this hotel.

We booked a sea-view room which was spacious, stylish and clean. We also had a rather large balcony with breathtaking views of Vathi harbour.

As noted by another reviewer, the bath was close to the bed and though it is meant to be stylish, it is actually not convenient at all and you need to be careful not to pour water outside.

The pool area is small and so is the pool itself. As to breakfast, which is served next to the pool area, it offers fresh hand made pastry but still it is rather basic for the standards of a "5 star hotel". Actually it should be noted that despite the clear indication on their website that this is a 5 star hotel, it is officially a 4 star hotel (see relevant notice in the rooms).

The hotel also seems to be understaffed and though the personnel are willing to assist, it is hard to find them. For instance, when you pass by the reception it is unlikely to find anyone there. Usually there is simply a note to call them in case of emergency.

As to value for money, I would say that in our case it was, since we made a last minute booking (on date of arrival) and agreed a very reasonable rate (better than their official low season rates). Had we paid anything close to the prices mentioned on their website we would definitely not feel that it was worth it.

Lovely Hotel designed by Phillip Stark so filled with artsy whimsical touches. Blue & White color scheme everywhere. Located on side street up a little hill and stairs so there's a great view but be aware there's some climbing to get there.
Terrific small pool overlooking all of Vathy.
Only concern: We were a party of 3 adults & 1 child & they put us in 2 rooms without asking if we wanted to share. Turned out 1 room had spacious loft that would have worked well for all of us plus saved us money but we were unable to change.

Perantzada is a delightful boutique hotel fulfilling all the assumptions one makes when booking a hotel like this.
- Rooms are very clean, simple, elegant and all bits work :-)
- Location is perfect, one side of a horseshoe bay that is Vathy, great views and 5 minute access to the harbour and main town whilst being on the side of the cool late night bars
- Service is impeccable in a very restrained greek way - love it
- Any other needs are dealt with efficiently - the hotel mgmt clearly have the respect of local restaurants / suppliers / etc
We will return - what better recommendation :-)

Room Tip: i think ours was called virtual pink - book it

I visited Ithaca beginning of June and found the island quiet and extremely relaxing. We stayed in a lovely suite at Perantzada and enjoyed the wonderful view on the bay of Vathy. The Hotel is split in a couple of buildings and has a neighborhood feeling. It is close to everything that matters on the island though who would want to leave a balcony with such a great view!
The various stairs in the hotel were a bit of a challenge during the hot hours of the day but that goes with the charm of being a terraced hotel. It is a bit pricey but if you can afford it, go for it. That view is priceless.

Room Tip: Be sure to book early to get the rooms with a view to the bay.

The Perantzada hotel was the absolutely perfect place to stay for me and my husband for our romantic week away.
We were welcomed warmly upon arrival by the charming manager, Fotini. As the hotel was virtually empty we were told we could upgrade and choose which suite we would prefer. All the rooms were delightful, clean, fresh and light. We chose suite Jasmine, it had a wonderful view...as did the other rooms we saw, a large veranda and a very trendy bathroom!
We felt able to immediately relax in the surroundings. We could have privacy on our own veranda where we had soft chairs or a small table and chairs, or relax by the small pool, in the sitting room where we could borrow books and magazines.
Breakfast should be the most important meal of the day and it certainly is important at this hotel. I craved the Greek yoghurt with figs and local honey, followed by freshly baked pastries.
Before sauntering to the local town to dinner in the evenings we sat by the pool to watch the sun go down with a cool glass of wine. Perfect.
Hotel Perantzada is the perfect location for people looking for a bit of grown up time in a totally relaxing quiet environment.
Don't be put off by the trip to ithaka from kefalonia, it's a half hour boat ride, easy as pie and cheap as chips, with or without a hire car and if its peace and quiet you're after then ithaka is definitely the island to choose.

We could find no fault with this hotel. It is full of character and charm and everything was perfect. Plenty of choice for breakfast and no charge for extra tea or coffee, as some reviewers claim. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the manager. Vathy is a picturesque, charming port and Ithaca is magic. Several beautiful coves and beaches nearby. Very good area for walking and cycling. We will return - many times we hope!
