met a friend for dinner and was impressed, will definitely be back. We sat at the bar and the chef came out with some very non-traditional 'happy hour' food. He explained he'd just returned from Milan and was taking a page from the restaurants he'd visited. The fare was nicely presented: arugula salad, meats and cheese, battered zucchini, crudites and...pizza! Was all very tasty.
Have to say the wine pours were a bit conservative, but the pricing was pretty fair, especially for the area. I ordered the salmon and risotto, my friend had the seafood pasta and we each enjoyed our meals. Risotto was a bit 'dense' and could would benefit from a touch of broth or something to keep it from coagulating on its way from the kitchen to table.
I would recommend The Cellar Bistro and my friend and I have already agreed that it is our new meeting place.
Btw, this was a Wednesday night and the dining room had a fair amount of people and about 5-6 people at the welcoming bar; nice, upscale feel due to the decor. Enjoy!
