Wonderful place with great host!
Review of La Butte Ronde
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 22 Oct 2016
Spent five nights in this wonderful place! Nadine is such a great host, you can see
that she clearly enjoys what she does. She tries to make everything possible for her
guests. The place is beautifully decorated and you feel at home the moment you walk in.
Guests can use a very comfy living room and little kitchen with a coffeemaker and micro waves. Wanted to stay one or two nights and ended up staying five, that says it all!

Nadine was just fabulous. We had a complete debacle renting a vehicle and she found a solution for us. And when we flew out early on our last day on the islands, she made us a to go breakfast. :) Highly recommend.

Location – Beautiful location in the heart of Havre aux maisons. Enjoyable quiet environment.

Welcoming – We received a very warm welcoming from the owner Nancy. She provided plenty of information and gave some very useful indications on what to do and see in Les Iles de la Madeleine.

Room – The room was very clean and spacious.

Breakfast – Delicious and generous, the breakfast was different everyday; and the service is fabulous.

I truly appreciated the time we were at La Butte Ronde and we will definitely go back.

I am so pleased that I read an article in Zoomer magazine about travel to the Iles de la Madeleine. That prompted out visit this fall. The journalist also stayed in La Butte Ronde and had positive comments about this B&B. We chose this accommodation based on that article as well as the very high ratings on tripadvisor.

An deservedly so - you arrive as strangers but Nadine ensures that you leave as friends. In various capacities, Nadine has been involved with the tourism business and definitely knows what it means to provide superior customer service.

This B&B is excellent value - we feel that the room rate was very reasonable.

Our room #5 was fantastic - large, well furnished, and had a view of the butte and a bit of ocean off in the distance. There are areas for guests' use like the large living room as well as a small kitchen/sitting area where there were dishes, a fridge, a microwave, a Keurig machine with pods, a sink and a small dining table. This allowed for some simple meal prep - or just to eat takeout food. This turned out to be very advantageous as many restaurants shut down for the season in early September.

An outdoor deck with views toward the ocean was a very pleasant place to sit - weather permitting.

The location of this B&B is fantastic for access to the ferry and for exploring the islands in the upper half of the archipelago.

We had a ferry to catch to Souris, PEI early in the morning and without asking, Nadine volunteered to prepare us a "breakfast on the go" tray including fruit, muffins, etc. We appreciated it - especially since in similar situation at other B&Bs on this trip, that offer was not made.

Room tip: Room 5 was excellent - and on the ground floor

Over many, many years of travelling, we have encountered numerous outstanding small inns and B&B. It is our preferred way of travelling and getting somewhat immersed in the local culture.

But La Butte Ronde blows them all away. Recently spent 6 nights there. We had selected it for its convenient location - midway along the North-South axis of Iles de la Madeleine - and excellent reviews on TripAdvisor.
Our most optimistic expectations were fully exceeded. As others have noted, the combination of Nadine exceptional friendliness, perfect amenities, splendid breakfasts, and tasteful restoration of the Old School combined into a truly delightful short week.
As we went toward the end of the most active tourist season, Nadine was immensely resourceful in suggesting great places to eat - since a number of restaurants were in the process of closing for the season.
As to the Islands, it was a most pleasant discovery. both for their exceptional settings - incredible beaches in particular - and the friendliness of the locals. This is THE place to go if you enjoy sea food and ultimate serenity. Do not miss it!

Room tip: We had room No 5, a large one with a large sitting area and walk in shower for two. Was very quiet with very good WiFi.

We visited for a four day getaway after our wedding. It was a perfect place to stay. The rooms are large, clean and perfectly furnished. The breakfasts were different every day and always delicious and fresh. Nadine and her husband were fantastically helpful hosts and this B&B is perfectly located close to the ferry but far enough away from the main town to enjoy the relaxing pace of the island.
We came towards the end of tourist season, and some of the days were very windy and a little cold, but we still had lots to do, even if the beach wasn't an option. On several occasions we made ourselves at home at the B&B on their patio with a glass of wine or curled up on the couch for a game of chess. We felt completely relaxed, at home and well taken care of the whole time. Nadine was even up bright and early on our last day to make sure we had a delicious picnic breakfast to take with us to the ferry! We will definitely be back :-)
