Thank you Patricia and Richard for a very special stay at your cozy B&B! Your place is lovely inside and out, chock full of old New England charm. Everything was perfect. Clean room meticulously decorated, top notch breakfast, not to mention the warm welcome from each of you and pleasant conversation. All in all, a very unique experience which is all too rare in today's fast-paced plugged-in world. Thanks again for a wonderful experience. Highly recommended!

Recently stayed here as my girlfriend and I were in the area for a wedding. We were looking for a fun bed and breakfast that really represented the charm of the surrounding area. The Earl Grey was exactly what we were looking for. It's a cozy, quaint property in a convenient location. The rooms and gardens are immaculate, and there's a wonderful collection of artwork influenced by the Boyle family's extensive travels, as well as Mr. Boyle's developed eye for art having spent years as a museum curator. The breakfast was first rate, as was the company of the Boyle's. It's a warm, inviting place, and one that you won't soon forget.

My wife and I stayed at the Earl Grey in early March, when the weather was decidedly brisk outside. Inside, the opposite: the suite we stayed in was warm and cozy, with a four poster bed in a beautifully decorated bedroom, with an adjoining sitting room furnished with comfortable chairs for reading. The single cup coffee maker was an added treat for me, who is an early riser, until we joined Dick and Patti Boyle for a marvelous breakfast.

The inn is on a hill overlooking Salisbury, which is a quaint village with interesting shops, including a very good wine store. Oh, and there were no bells or chimes at night, which was mentioned in another review. Maybe somebody turned them off.

This was a great weekend getaway, and the Boyles are charming hosts who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: We stayed in the one suite that the B&B offers, but there's also an upstairs room with en su...

Our night's sleep was completely ruined (so was the next day, from exhaustion) by loud chimes EVERY 15 MINUTES ALL NIGHT at the adjacent town library. I hoped they'd cease at midnight. Ha! Wear your watch to bed so you can follow along 12:15; 12:30; 12:45; 1:00 (extra chimes on each hour!); 1:15; .... 2:30; .... 3:45; 4:00; 4:15; 4:30.... 5:30; 5:45; 6:00; 6:15... When we asked our hosts about this they seemed to wonder about it. I called the library later and learned the chiming is at least a 100 year tradition.

"Sleepless" has found fault in that the chimes on the village library's clock had kept him awake all night. This is the first time in our 20 years of operating the Earl Grey B&B that anyone has complained about the library's chimes. We have also contacted our business colleagues in town, one of whom lives four doors away from the library, and none of them have ever experienced that particular complaint (incidentally our B&B is two blocks away). Salisbury is a small New England village and the library's chimes have been a part of its charm for over 100 years. We wonder what "Sleepless" would write if he had stayed in a hotel near Chartres Cathedral!

We were royally entertained by our splendid hosts Richard and Patricia. Our guest cottage rooms were well equipped and comfortable. The setting of the house was beautiful and filled with bird song. Patricia's breakfasts were excellent and they were most helpful in suggesting interesting places to visit. It was our first experience of New England hospitality and one which we would be happy to repeat.

Room Tip: Only two accommodations. The guest cottage was excellent.

This now ranks at the top of our favorite b&b's. Such a wonderful place with the most welcoming hosts.

The suite, where we stayed, is a private little home with its own garden, a porch and a separate sitting area.

The home is a great sanctuary for a short-stay escape from NY!
