“Best B & B ever! Great hosts! Wonderful area - also with children!”
Reviewed 27 October 2010

My husband and our 1-year old daughter stayed at the Cornucopia for 3 nights during our honeymoon-trip. It was the best place in New England you could think of: The rooms are fantastic - spacious, clean, with lots of love for every detail. The hosts are absolutely fabulous, as is Christine`s home-made breakfast! Besides owning a wonderful, huge garden with pool, they even offer great tips for smaller or greater excursions. The area olaso offers some very good places for dining or coffee. Especially with children, this is the place to be! While your little one is sleeping you can relax in front of the fireplace in the living room, have some wine and cheese and nice conversation, if you like. Just GREAT!

Wirklich, da sollte man hingehen, wenn man New England kennenlernen und erleben möchte!

I can just agree with the other reviews: this is a fantastic place: Christine and Ed are so friendly, the rooms are lovely, and lobby with the fireplace was hard to leave. And the breakfast - olala! Don't miss this place.

Ed and Christine welcomed us to their traditional, 1800 home, with open arms. The history of the building is very impressive and the public areas are inviting to lounge in. The B&B is located at the intersection of Rt. 6 and Rt. 67, just 2-3 miles from the I-84 exit. Breakfast included several kinds of yogurt (we liked Greek), fruit, juice, and eggs made to order and perfectly delivered. It's pet friendly and we never heard the two dogs in the next room. The price was a bit more than we'd paid in Maine but comparable for southern Connecticut. The only downside was the road noise from the intersection that was just outside our window as our room was just over the front door, but other rooms might not have that problem.

The driveway to the B&B is actually off the side road, Bucks Hill Road, even though the address is at 782 Main Road North (and not 782 Main Road South). We recommend this B&B without reservation.

My family and I stayed at the Cornucopia both going to and coming from Nantucket. We have stayed at many B&Bs in the past and have inevitably been disappointed and/or horrified. And since I'm a bit particular about my surroundings (read: Monk), I could not really believe that we found the Cornucopia. It is gorgeous, clean as a whistle, quiet, the innkeepers are friendly and generous, the town of Southbury is beautiful (eat at Juiio's Woodfire Grill), and even Monk could stay there and be assured of a great night's sleep on lovely linens followed by a delicious breakfast next morning. Don't cheat yourself out of a great experience! Stay at the Cornucopia.

My son has been going to boarding school for the last two years in Washington Depot. We have tried multiple Inns and B&Bs. In the first year we found nothing like this. They were either incredibly over priced like the Mayflower and Boulders or very unimpressive for this price or lower. I might actually use the word dumps. Thank God in the fall of this year we found the Cornucopia. Christine and Ed that run it are wonderful. I think for value for money this place is incredible! I would recommend this highly and have to my son's school.

There's a reason that Cornucopia doesn't have negative reviews. If you are planning to stay near Southbury, and they have a room available, it is not only a great value, but also a beautiful inn, and they make you feel at home.

My wife & I stopped here, about halfway from Baltimore to our destination in northern New England. Located in a historic area of colonial homes about 1.5 miles north of I 84, the b&b is an interesting and very attractive large home dating to 1818 , kept in immaculate condition by its friendly & helpful owners, Christine & Fred. Their surrounding acreage is equally beautiful. Breakfasts were excellent & customized to our own preferences. The owners recommended several restaurants & we chose Julio's, a very good nearby Italian restaurant.......Overall, we enjoyed our visit so much that we arranged our travels so that we could stay there again on our way back, & we were just as pleased with our second visit......
