“Oh what a night!”

I have to start my review by saying this hotel is extremely well situated right off the 95 Expressway. You truly can not here any traffic, but I mention it simply because it is so easy to get to for anyone that may be "directionally impaired." I was there for the weekend, and it was a very quiet hotel. My guess is that it is generally used for business conferences, and therefore weekends are not only quiet, but much less expensive. The hotel staff was very friendly, and the reception was easy. The hotel lobby area was decorated in a modern relaxing way. It gave you a feel of corporate America, but with a really nice waiting room feel. Comfortable couches and chairs, made it a place to hang out and check email, while sipping a cup of coffee.

The rooms were very nicely appointed, and here is the best part... The beds were amazing! I went with a group and we had an entire floor, and everyone had the same comment about the beds "best night sleep I have ever had." The mattresses are perfect, the linens are super soft and the pillows were just the right density. All the toiletries were upgraded and refreshing. It is the kind of room that makes you want to go to bed early, sleep in, and miss a meeting. Although there was no free wifi, for some reason my room had a perfect connection to a free wifi in the area, so I used it, and had no issues.

Overall, if you will be travelling to Stamford, Connecticut, or you need to hop off the 95 Expressway to catch some zzz, then this is your place. If you are wondering why I did not give it 5 stars, it is because it is not a 5 star hotel, and therefore lacks all the bells and whistles a 5 star offers. That being said, it should not disappoint you.

This is exactly what you'd expect from a Hilton. I'm a local resident and stayed here during a power outage. Staff is fine and rooms are fine - clean and comfortable but nothing fancy. It's walking distance to the train which can be convenient.

This is a great place to stay if you're driving a need a rest before heading into NYC or if you're visiting NYC and want a convenient hotel outside of the high-priced city hotels.

The only bad thing I could say about our one night stay was no tub and after a long day, I was looking forward to a nice soak. Room was nice and clean. Had a very good meal in the hotel, especially for a hotel restaurant. Staff was pleasant.

This hotel looks like it should be very nice. The shared areas are nice and spacious.

When I got into the room, here's what happened:

1) There were three hangers in the room. I called and asked for more -- twenty minutes later, a guy came and said he could only find 3 more hangars in the whole hotel.

2) The safe doesn't work.

3) The remote on the TV didn't work

4) There is no Wifi. There is wired, but it's $9.95 per device (not per room) per day -- so if you have a computer and iPad, or a phone -- it's a complete ripoff.

5) There is only one bar of soap to use both in the shower and at the sink

Also -- the pool was closed.

If they invested some money and paid more attention to detail, this could be a good hotel. But it's not at that level.

Thank you so much for your response and happy holidays! You will be happy to hear the pool was closed because we are renovating the area. Being a facility that is open 365 days/ 24 hours a day it is tough to pick a ‘good time’ to close something like the pool to make improvements, and we do apologize that it happened over your stay. Also we are installing Wi-Fi throughout the guest room floors within the next three months, but until then you can always utilize our complimentary Wi-Fi in the lobby, and many of our public spaces on the second floor. Lastly we do have new safes on their way! They will arrive next week and we will begin installing them. Again we thank you for your feedback and would love to see you again!

We have stayed in many Hiltons over the years and generally enjoy a good experience. However, this hotel was VERY POORLY MANAGED. The reservation specialist who works on site messed up our reservation. We originally booked two nights because we had lost our power during the freak October blizzard. On the seond day, we called to extend our stay for the rest of the week, but found ourselves locked out of our room the next day. The front desk agent claimed that we never called to extend the reservation, and that the hotel was fully booked and that they had no room for us! On top of that, we tried the restaurant in the hotel twice. The first time, nobody ever came over and greeted us. After a 1/2 hour, we sat ourselves as there were a few empty tables. Then, no waiter or waitress showed up, even for a drink order, for OVER AN HOUR! Somehow, it was no surprise that when food di actually come after a total wait of 2 1/2 hours, that the order was mixed up and we were served the wrong food! We were starving at this point, so we just took what they gave us and ate it. The diners at the tables near us all had the same experience. It was just an all-around awful experience.

Sandwiched between the rail line and the expressway, the Hilton could be noisy but I never heard anything at all so well insulated for sound. I suggest getting rooms with even numbers below 34 for lowest noise. There is no WiFi in the rooms (lobby & public spaces only) and the wifi speed/capacity is very poor. The rooms have wired internet. Furnishings in rooms is comfortable and good quality. The bathrooms are relatively modern - the shower was one of the best for power (not so Eco-friendly). No glass or cups in the bathroom seemed odd. My sink still had toothpaste in it so not cleaned well. My room safe didn't work either (probably dead battery but shows nobody checks the details). Good selection of power outlets in the rooms. The a/c worked well and is quiet which is great.

Room Tip: Pick even numbered rooms below 34

Thank you so much for your response. We are happy to announce that at the beginning of next year we will have Wi-Fi in the guest rooms as well as new safes installed. The safes will be the size where a laptop can fit in them! Again thank you for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you on a future visit.

This hotel is old and tired. The outside and lobby area is fine, but when you get upstairs, it is a different story. The winding hallways are narrow. The room doors have the old style key locks and a retrofitted card lock (which didn't work in my room, grrr). The stucco is peeling off my ceiling and there is a big burn mark on the desk. Hilton generally does a good job cleaning but my first impression-broken lock, peeling paint - are yuck. And, to top it off, as I write this, I am listening to the guy in the next room pee. At least it drowns out the people talking on the other side. The Greenwich Hyatt is just up the road and for the same price is nicer.
