The desk attendant, Dorrie, was absolutely charming and hospitable. The room was well appointed and the bathroom was clean and roomy.
The inn is at a great location - the southern end of the business strip and close to the point - but the rear was above the parking lot. Still, there was no noise and the sound offers a beautiful view out the window. The town is wonderful - the row after row of old houses will fascinate you.

I agree with a previous reviewer: the breakfast was ordinary. But the guest room, the public rooms and the location made this a wonderful weekend.
We also recommend the town's restaurants - informal and good food both nights.

The Inn seems newly built (probably it is) and the rooms are very tastefully appointed with lovely furniture and a large bathroom with jacuzzi and shower. The view of the harbor from the breakfast room and third floor common rooms was lovely. I thought that the breakfast was plentiful with quality pastries, breads and fruits. The staff was also very helpful - all in all flawless service and a restful and very pleasant week-end.

My husband and I were in need of a 24-hour escape from daily life. We chose Stonington for its location and sea-side atmosphere. The Inn was offering a special mid-week special when we went that included a generous voucher to the Water Street Cafe down the street. In all, it was a very reasonably-priced stay, which no doubt contributed to our positive feelings about the Inn!
The staff were extremely friendly and elegant. The building itself was beautiful; original art on the walls, comfortable common room seating, nice, simple breakfast and a complimentary wine and cheese in the evening. Our room (#11) was great; working gas fireplace, oversized tub, balcony and nice decor. My only gripe (and thus my rating of 4 stars) was that the bed was tiny and uncomfortable! The bed was definitely smaller than a queen and the mattress was old and springy. I slept terribly, which was a major disappointment given that we didn't have to wake up at the first sound of our eager, early-rising kiddos! This said, the friendliness, location and added amenities made our 24 hour escape well worth it. I would happily recommend the Inn to anyone--just be sure to get a room with a decent sized bed!

Charming Inn - nice rooms, nice staff, good breakfast. Well appointed rooms. We enjoyed our long weekend at The Inn at Stonington, of course it would be even better if it was right on the water and didn't overlook a lot with the water in the distance, but overall a great place.

We stayed for two nights at this lovely inn in the beautiful town of Stonington, CT. Inn staff were very accommodating of our need for a bigger room to include an extra cot one of the nights so we were in two very nice rooms. Breakfast was delicious - the pistachio muffins were wonderful. We were able to sit out on the deck one morning. Large bathrooms with jacuzzi baths and good hot showers. A third floor living room with another lovely view that was inviting, but didn't have time to use. We like fresh air so were able to open the windows and even on the street side it was pretty quiet. Had dinner at Noahs one night (very good) and Dog Watch Cafe the other (good). A wonderful town to walk around - even in the early morning mist. The shops are nice and interesting. And the surrounding area is also lovely with fields, forests (took a nice hike in the Avalonia conservancy area off the road to Stonington), stone fences, and beautiful homes.

Thank you to Susan, Leslie, (the elusive 'Bill') and staff for making our stay at the Inn at Stonington a time to remember. We had two lovely days there and enjoyed it so much, we stayed an extra night. Both rooms that we stayed in were pristine, and with beds so big that I felt like the 'Princess and the pea'. The location of Stonington is stunning and if you are staying here, you should take a walk round the village and head down to debois Beach (which is a small quiet beach at this time of year). It's a beautiful village with colonial New England houses in a coastal setting. We took a boat trip out with Mary from the Science and Education centre next door to the Inn. Mary knows her stuff about the marine life and waterways, so we would recommend a scoot out on the water if you get a chance. One of the lovely touches at the Inn is that you get a glass (or two) of wine and cheese and biscuits from 6-7 pm in the bar area. We enjoyed this as we got speaking to a lovely American couple who gave us tips on where to go and what to see in Conneticutt. We hope to return.

We stayed in the Annex building and have no complaints with the room 16. It was much larger than we anticipated, quiet and clean.

Breakfast was adequate with a variety if breads, hardboiled eggs, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice. Wine and cheese hour was nice.

Service and the view is really what you are paying for here and it is worth it! We plan to go back.
