We sat watching the sunset from the cocktail area of the outside terrace. Very good cocktails and an equally nice wine selection.
The blue fish pate was delicious!! Also had a few items from the raw bar which tasted very fresh.

Only complaint is that they are closed on Tuesday's so we didn't have the chance to go there again during our stay! :)

Will definitely return next time I'm in the area for a full dinner.

With a large outside deck surrounding the interior, it's the location of swooners overlooking stonington harbour that gives it the wow factor. Under new management and after a complete refurb, the finished look is great! It also has ample parking, a real bonus in the middle of the borough, and takes bookings, unlike several of its neighbours.
Having booked our table in advance, the staff were not sure if it was ready for us on arrival and we were escorted to the bar area. This was surprising as the restaurant was quiet and there seemed to be abundant staff.
Our server was charming and knowledgeable, but food and drinks slow to arrive. Again, surprising on a mid week evening. Both bottles of wine were disappointing. Food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their mains and the puddings were wonderful! It would've been a nice gesture to have not charged the full adult price for the small bowl of pasta one of our children had ( the kids menu was fairly uninspiring!).
We were quite taken aback when our plates were cleared while one of our party was only mid way through her meal. On questioning this later the response was that we had children in our group and they had assumed we would want to get away in good time. As it was neither late nor either of the children were young we were surprised by this response. We were there to enjoy the evening but felt rather rushed as a result.
Considering the price we felt that the service at swooners was somewhat disorganised. We look forward to returning and giving it five stars!

Dh ordered fish and chips. He said it was okay but wouldn't order again. DS and I shared three appetizers; fish cakes, salmon, and bluefish pate. All were yummy. They were small portions. We would order them again. Prices a bit high for my likings, but seems like most resaurants in the area were higher than average. The patio seating was gorgeous. Service was fast. I would go back again.

The place was recommended by a local. We had a great table on the deck with a terrific view of the sunset. The food unfortunately did not match the settings. It was fairly bland, uninspired and not worth the price. So in total two points for food and four for location, resulting in three points average.

When I had the first three, super fresh oysters and had to order more....(The purveyor is Mystic River Oysters, look for them and talk to the man shucking the oysters!) I knew I was in a place to linger. The kale salad was a winner and not so filling that I was unable to appreciate the freshly made pasta with seafood main course as one of the tastiest in that category ever. Sitting at the bar gave me a chance for good conversation with the staff. Go, enjoy, don't hurry to leave.
