“The Coziest, Most Wonderful Inn”
Reviewed 15 December 2007

After driving five hours in a wintry storm, my windshield wipers stopped working. Luckily, I was able to get towed to the Tolland Inn in Tolland, Connecticut. Susan and Steve were the most hospitable hosts. Not only was the Inn completely beautiful (most of the furniture made by Steve), but the food and company were above excellent as well. The stay was phenomenal, and in the suites there are jacuzzis (!) The rooms have televisions and large, comfortable beds. There are fireplaces in the rooms as well as beautiful dressers.

If you ever want a cozy stay in a well-priced, well decorated, incredible inn, this is the place to stay. I will definitely be back.

I am ever-grateful for the hospitality of Steve and Susan at this wonderful bed and breakfast.

We stayed at the Tolland Inn last weekend and would highly recommend it. We stayed in Suite 7, the Treehouse Suite, which was lovely. It was recently constructed, including the handmade, comfortable king bed, and was spotless. It includes a hot tub, TV, air conditioning, and a view looking over the nice yard, very private in the back of the Inn. Steve and Susan Beeching were most gracious hosts, providing complimentary iced tea on arrival and directions to the restaurant we were going to in the evening. Breakfast was delicious in the morning, fresh french toast, fruit, eggs, juice and coffee. The location is perfect, only a mile or so from I-91 and 7 miles from Storrs, where UCONN is located, and only about 15 minutes past Hartford. This was definitely an upgrade over any hotel/motel chain that might be the alternative. Make this your starting point for exploring Northeast Connecticut.

My wife and I, stayed for one night at the Tolland Inn. On arrival we instantly noticed that the property is beautifully kept inside and out, and that Stephen and Susan Beeching, our innkeepers, were friendly, helpful, and very proud of their home. After being given Iced tea at check-in, we were taken on a tour of the first floor, which we found tastefully decorated, and filled with amazing furniture made by Stephen in his home workshop. Then we were shown to our room by Susan, we stayed in the Tree House Suite, which had been completely renovated, from the ground up. The room was absolutely beautifully decorated and furnished, from the hot tub in the bay window, to the sit in porch, to the completely comfortable bed. Breakfast the following morning was cooked by Stephen and was about as perfect as any breakfast as you could get anywhere. Susan and Stephen are a delight in every way and I would, and will reccomend the Tolland Inn to anyone and everyone. Also we would welcome contact from anyone thinking of staying there, to recount our personal experience of this superb Inn.

What a great place! A quaint inn on the Tolland Green. A picture perfect place. The inn was very inviting with complimentary tea throughout the day, and cozy reading nooks. Our room was very relaxing with a fireplace and hot tub(best part!!). Breakfast was scrumptous and conversation was friendly. We would definitely go back.

My wife, Jeannie and I have stayed at the Tolland Inn twice, once in '04 and again this past June, both times on our way to Martha's Vineyard. It is a quiet, romantic, lovely inn on a beautiful town square. The rooms are incredibly restful and nicely appointed reflecting New England beauty and charm. The breakfast, served family style was absolutely delicious. The innkeepers, Susan and Steve are most gracious. In June the new suite #7 was under construction and is now completed and looks beautiful on the website. Located just off the interstate this inn makes a nice place for a stop over, yet next year we plan to make that stop over for two nights simply to enjoy the inn and surrounding area. The rates are reasonable and fine restaurants are within easy reach. We have visited some 32 country inns in recent years and the Tolland Inn is now one of our top favorite inns.

  • Liked — Beauty and comfort, and, they offer Peter Deneen Pottery mugs for sale to guests
  • Disliked — There was nothing not to like.

My wife and I stopped at the Tolland Inn late in September on our way to Vermont and Maine, and I wanted to tell your members just how pleased we were.

To begin with, our room was beautifully decorated, full of nice details, and sparkling clean. The location, right on Tolland Green, is both picturesque and convenient to restaurants and other attractions. Steve and Susan, the innkeepers, are delightful people, and Steve cooked one of the best breakfasts we have had in two decades of b&b travel. His craftsmanship throughout the house is very impressive, none more so than the newly renovated #7 suite, which was just being finished when we were there.

Unlike the case with many B&Bs, the web site [-] doesn't overstate things a bit! Oddly it does not have a picture of the Inn (a painting of some sort instead), so we have included one.

We both felt that the price of our room was very reasonable for the quality of the accommodations, and we'll definitely stay there again when the opportunity presents.
