“Fantastic Visit!”
Reviewed 31 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Just got back from a 8 night stay at the Beaufort House with 8 other couples where we rented the main house and 1 of the cottages. All of us were thrilled with our choice in accommodations. The house is old, but well appointed and extremely comfortable with each bedroom containing an en suite. We found ourselves cooking group meals together and drinking lots of wine in the sitting room rather than going out for meals. Only a 15 minute cab ride into Killarney and a 5 minute walk to the Beaufort bar and restaurant (also amazing). Would absolutely recommend this location to anyone spending some time in County Kerry!

“wonderful”
Reviewed 17 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

It was wonderful! Our group of 27 stayed out Beaufort House for a week. The property is wonderful. Close to Killarney but in a world all its own. Right on the river - beautiful to walk around. We could not have asked for or found a more beautiful location for our vacation. The icing on the cake - every bedroom can be configured as either a single or a king bed and has its own en suite!

“Trip of a lifetime for family of 29!”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The Beaufort House exceeded our expectations in all ways! Our entire family of 29 felt like royalty. The accommodations were very unique, historical and charming as we discovered this was once a castle that has been renovated to a guest house and the owner grew up in the home. The yard is beautiful and well manicured with spectacular views and gardens providing a very scenic background for our family to gather for dinners (specially prepared by Rachel & Donald)
They were memorable feasts of grilled lamb and the other night perfect salmon! We had a wide variety of ages of children from 5-25 (18 kids) and 10 adult children- 5 couples and the grandparents for his 75th birthday! It was a once in a lifetime experience and lasting memory for all! It was the perfect setting for a large group and we all had the advantage of the beautiful countryside and the charming town of Killarney - 5miles away! R
achel and Donald were most helpful suggesting excursions, hikes and things to do. They met us at the door when we arrived and helped us get settled into our new home away from home for the week. They have four large rooms with huge private baths and lovely individual cottages on the property as well. The living room was perfect for gathering a large group for late night chats.
We could not have been more pleased and wouldn't have changed a thing! Rachel and Donald were the best hosts and work tirelessly to make their guests experience memorable.

“Lovely, just lovely!”

This phrase is used over and over again in Ireland, in restaurants, hotels, pubs, even on the street, and it perfectly sums up our weeklong-stay at Beaufort House near Killarney. The property actually exceeded our expectations as the photos posted do a good job of showing the spacious and nicely decorated rooms but cannot convey the lush lawns, pocket gardens and grassy paths leading down to the river that edges the property. There's very good trout and salmon fishing in the river but we contented ourselves with sitting on a rustic bench, sipping our afternoon tea and tossing rocks into the rushing water for one of the resident chocolate labs to retrieve (her idea, not ours!).
The house itself feels completely authentic, from the book-lined walls and comfortable couches of the library to the cozy kitchen with its scrubbed pine table. Our group (four couples) was encouraged to settle in, cook if we wished, use the laundry facilities, etc. The bedrooms and baths were quite comfortable and attractive and all was kept spotless by Noreen, who came in every morning to "do". Hosts Donald and Rachel, along with daughter Kate, were available with advice and help when we needed them but unobtrusively kept to their wing of the house so we had plenty of privacy.
We used Gerard at Killarney Guided Tours for some sightseeing and were pleased with the service. It was especially nice to be able to tour the Dingle Peninsula without the hassle of driving those narrow, windy roads!
Absolutely best meal I have ever had: Bricin restaurant (pronounced Brick-een) in Killarney. Famous for its "Boxty" which is a sort of hearty potato pancake, folded over various fillings, I had the ratatouille version and it was just such a perfect combination of textures and flavors. I crave it still!
Thanks, Donald and Rachel!

“Absolutely Charming Irish Manor House”

Just finished a week's stay with three other couples. Beaufort House is all it is advertised to be and more. Great location, beautiful home with ancient ambiance but all the modern conveniences anyone could desire. Surrounded by beautiful countryside yet close to Killarney and even within walking distance of several excellent local pub/restaurants.

Donald and Rachel are wonderful hosts - genuinely friendly and responsive to any need such as help with scheduling reservations, transportation and local advice. It is best to have a car since it is about 5 miles from Killarney but they also helped us schedule a very reliable and reasonably priced local van driver for the nights we wanted to "go out and party".

Our group has stayed all over the world (Mexico, Spain, Italy, France, England, Portugal to name a few) and this experience was right at the top.

“The only place to stay in Ireland!”

If you're looking for the combination of home and vacation, I would highly recommend this property! We stayed a week with a gathering of friends and hated to leave. It is situated close enough to Kilarney but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. I would suggest renting a car as there are limited choices in the small village of Beaufort. Rachel and Donald make sure you are well taken care of and the entire property is BEAUTIFUL and well maintained. A lovely restaurant is located right next door and a great pub is about 1/2 a mile's walk. We can't wait to return to Ireland and to be sure we will stay at Beaufort again.

If you are thinking of traveling to the Kerry/Cork region, specifically to Killarney then you must stay at Beaufort House!! You won't be sorry. I had the pleasure of atttending a destiination wedding in Killarney in July, 2010 ans I stayed at Beaufort House. From the minute I stepped in the front door I was in total heaven! The surroundings that you will stay in are this side of heaven! The kitchen is a grand place to have a casual dinner or just to relax. The whole house is magnificent! The beds are like sleeping on a cloud and the bathrooms are heavenly, down comforters and all! Please don't let your stay go by unless you stop by Beaufort. Rachel & Richard are wonderful and will accomidate your every wish! Thank you Rachel & Richard for a lovely stay! I loved the dogs too!
