We stayed one night at the Arumeru River Lodge and we were very impressed with the size of the chalet and the service. The food was excellent. The grounds with the animals and birds were great. It was an excellent start to our Safari.

We arrived at the Arumeru from Kilimanjaro Airport after an overnight flight from the UK with a connection via Nairobi. The lodges are spacious including a dated though perfectly adequate bathroom. The bed was large and comfortable, and had a mosquito net.

We had our first sight of exotic wildlife as a couple of Dik-dik families live on the grounds.

We stayed just one night though this was a welcome stop prior to starting our safari. Would probably stay here again if I were to go back to Kilimanjaro.

Room Tip: The rooms are spread over the grounds and it can be a bit of a maze finding your way in the dark (an...

Located in a quiet spot near Mount Meru this place was a great spot to start our Tanzanian safari. The only issue we had was getting up on the first morning to cold showers as the hot water switch hadn't been turned on. The restaurant was good however the menu was nearly identical on the two separate nights we stayed here. The staff were friendly and remembered us between stays. If you want somewhere quiet to start and end your safari this is it.

Rooms were clean and comfy, the gardens and facilities were well kept. Food was not that great. Overall we felt that, whilst it was nice to have some rest before starting our safari, we could have done getting closer to parks, etc

We travelled to the Arumeru from Kilimanjaro Airport. Its a short drive from the airport which is great after a long overnight journey from the uk. The room was spacious and the bed was large and comfortable. The bathroom is large, if a little dated but perfectly functioning. The lodge is very quiet during the day but we were grateful for this as it allowed us to rest in the room. The grounds are lovely to walk around and there is an open plan bar / lounge / dining area. The staff are very friendly and the owner always has time for a chat. We only stayed one night but the dinner was very good and the staff enjoyed teaching us Swahili. This is basically a good 3* lodge and I would stay there if I was in Kilimanjaro again.

Room Tip: The lodges are spread out around the grounds, so if you have difficulty walking, request a room near...

We stayed at Arumeru River Lodge for two nights when we first arrived in Tanzania. It was convenient to the airport, Arusha NP and Arusha town. The rooms were nice and large. The beds were large and relatively comfortable, although the mattress were a little on the hard side for us. The bathrooms were large; the shower offered sufficient hot water, although the flow wasn't always the best. The grounds are beautiful, with many bird species and the resident dik diks. There are some mosquitoes at night, due to the water on and around the property, but they weren't a major problem. We had the opportunity to chat with the owners, who seemed really nice and were working hard to keep the property in shape for Western guests.

We also had a day room here prior to leaving, which was probably the source of the only true negative we had here. We went for an early dinner (5PM-ish) as we needed to be at the airport for the KLM flight. The service was very slow, and we did have a little concern about missing our plane. I'd just suggest if you go for a meal before a flight to make it clear that it needs to be fast! Otherwise, we were really happy with everything about this lodge.

I stayed here for three nights prior to my Kilimanjaro trek. The lodge was amazing: the grounds are beautiful; the rooms are lovely and very comfortable; the food was very good; and the staff was caring and delightful! I only wish I had stayed here after my climb (successful!), too. Daniel took me on a tour of the town - he was informative and very entertaining. I highly recommend this hotel.
