“Great oasis after the long trip”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

My family and I stayed at this lodge for 2 nights prior to our northern circuit 2 week safari and also used this is as our home base for a day room prior to departing the evening of our last night.

We loved this lodge. It is high fenced with security and felt very safe. Their are resident Dik-Dik and bush babies. Also had vervet monkeys and bat eared foxes. Very nice grounds with perfect manicure of the grass and landscaping.

Great service with very friendly and willing staff. Served us late dinner when we arrived and early dinner prior to our departure and was willing to accommodate us.

The rooms are very nice. Good hot water and reliable electricity. Fans only and no A/C. No bugs in the rooms. Nice bathrooms. Comfortable beds. Very nice pool.

This is a nice stopover after the Amsterdam flight and a great place for a dayroom the last day.

We would definitely stay here again.

We chose this lodge because it was close to the airport and the road to Arusha National Park. I'm glad we did choose this lodge because it turned out to be very nice. We arrived about 11 pm after our flight from Amsterdam. We were offered dinner but turned it down since it was so late. We had decided to stay here for two nights since we were arriving so late and wanted to visit Arusha National Park. Arumeru River Lodge has a number of bungalows set among very well kept grounds with their own Dik-diks and many birds. The rooms were fine but the grounds were beautiful. Meals were served on a roofed patio where you overlook the grounds. This lodge is very good for a day or two but probably not the best for an extended stay since it is not real close to Arusha.

We stayed here on our first and last night of your Tanzania holiday. We arrived at the Lodge at 4 am and they made us feel very welcome.
The proximity to the airport (25mins drive) is what made us choose this lodge.
The rooms are clean and have everything you need.
The food is pretty good.
We loved the Dik-diks very much.
On our last day we arrived already at lunch time and it was no problem to get a hut right away. We spent the afternoon lounging by the pool with a cold Safari beer in our hands.
Lush!

We landed late at the Kilimanjaro airport, and after waiting in various lines for our visa and clearance, we were looking forward to some rest. Arumeru River Lodge is close to the airport, so we were there in short time and able to get a good night's sleep. The grounds of the lodge are beautifully groomed and we enjoyed the dik-diks as they roamed the area without a care. Meals were very good and the bartender was delightful!

Room Tip: Where shower water is shared between units, get your shower first! We had a problem sharing hot wate...

Arumeru River Lodge is close to Kilimanjaro Airport and is therefore a good place for a first or last night. It consists of pleasant huts set in attractive and extensive gardens full of birds and Dik-Dik antelopes. There is a pool. The dinner buffet was very good with a quite exceptional roast ham, and the breakfast was fine. Inside, the hut was smaller than most of the places we stayed but still perfectly adequate. Our only real complaint was that there were holes in the window mosquito nets and the net over the bed had pulled away from the wall, which also provided access for the little blighters. This was the only night in Tanzania and Kenya when we shared our bed with a mosquito. The area around Arumeru River Lodge is not very attractive, and there are therefore better places in Tanzania for an extended stay.

We stayed here for two nights before our safari and had a day room on our last day in Tanzania. The rooms are simple and comfortable and the grounds are quiet and lovely. Service was great and the food is basic (especially lunch) but very good. We loved the rainforest walk with the owner - colobus monkeys and a view of village life the Tanzania that is sobering and worthwhile. We enjoyed the pool and just relaxing in the lovely lounge area. It's hard for me to imagine an easier jumping off point on your way into or out of Tanzania.

This was a great place to start and finish our kili and safari trip. The owners and staff were very nice and helpful. The dinners and breakfasts were good. We stayed here 3 different times during our trip in Tanzania. The newer junior suites were the best rooms. Internet is also now free which was a nice surprise. The laundry turnaround time on request was a nice feature as well. The location was outside of the city which was peaceful.

Room Tip: I like the junior suites the best. Very new.
