We live in Norwalk and we visit SI several times during the year. Definitely a summer attraction. It was FREEZING cold the day we went, and agreed that we would come back when it was June or July. We like the 9-11 memorial. Watch out for goose poop!

Recommended stay: 2-3 hours IN SUMMER!!!

It's a large, nice beach, with bath house. It can be crowded with New Yorkers in the summer. Off season, on Sunday morning they fly toy planes in the north eastern parkign lot.

It is easy to get to, has loads of parking, decent concessions (but would recommend bringing your own stuff anyway), is clean, and only $9 for CT residents.

This was the 1st beach we visited on a recent family trip to Connecticut. There was only fisherman and a couple of lifeguards on this beautiful New England day which was suprising as it is so close to NYC. The cost for out of state vehicles is $20! That was sticker shock for this midwest family. The beach has been over run by the geese. The sand itself is crunchy and not pleasant to walk on. We did dip out toes in and it was refreshing. Our sons had a good time collecting shells and viewing the local wildlife. The most intriguing part of the beach is the 9-11 memorial. It is done in good taste and was a real eye opener. The memorial has the names of all the local people who lived in the area and died on that fateful day. Sherwood is a great place to spend an afternoon to frolick as well as reflect.

We were exploring the area and happened across this park. We were very surprised to have to pay $7 just to look around, but we were glad we did. The beach was a great place to walk and take a break.
