Once you walk into the Inn, you will be greeted with the a sense of calm and peacefulness. The location is ideal..with rooms overlooking Long Island Sound or the golf course. Rooms on the 3rd floor are ideal because they have better views, however the 2nd floor ones are excellent too. I like the informal, and relaxed feel of the Inn..it's a spa like getaway I always enjoy returning to. The crew at the Inn are timeless, thoughtful and always willing to help. Take advantage of sitting outside Adirondack chairs overlooking the water or take a walk along the water and golf course. Compo beach is easy to walk to and worth a visit. Overall, I could not say enough about this wonderful cozy retreat.

Room Tip: any room on the 3rd floor

We visited Westport to attend a show at the Westport Country Playhouse, and booked a room at the Inn at Longshore. Situated at the end of the long resort drive, right on Long Island Sound with beautiful grounds and wonderful views, we arrived at 3:30 pm to a friendly welcome. Our room, 312, on the third floor (walk up) was clean, comfy and inviting. We enjoyed sitting in the spacious ensuite living room, and found the king size bed comfortable. Four thermostats in the suite allowed good control of temperatures on our January stay. Before heading off to the theater, we enjoyed a terrific light supper of shrimp cocktail and garden salad at the onsite restaurant. Fresh and nicely served. The menu was enticing...we’ll return for a complete meal.

Had the pleasure of spending two nights at the Inn at Longshore in the fall. It's a lovely inn, located right on Long Island Sound, with wonderful views. The hotel is often used for weddings and programs/events, but this doesn't detract from its charm.

The property is well-tended, with a pool and tennis courts, and shoreline that entices one into sitting in a comfy chair and relaxing (season permitting, of course). You can walk to Compo Beach (a longer stretch of Sound-front sandy beach), about 1.5 miles away.

My room was a 'good size', with nice furniture, comfy king bed, and a frig. The window air conditioner wheezed quite a bit (the building is well maintained but older). The bathroom had plush towels and modern fixtures but was very very small.

Continental breakfast was offered--good selection of juices, breads/muffins, yogurt, coffee (disappointing/not strong like I like it).

We ate dinner one night at Pearl restaurant, part of the hotel. Food was delicious, portions were on the smaller side, setting was comfortable and not noisy (a number of non-hotel guests were enjoying dinner).

We chose this Inn to celebrate our 22nd anniversary. Its location in Westport on a golf resort is convenient to amenities. There's a restaurant in the building, tennis courts, pool, and water sports also nearby. The area has gorgeous estates and we enjoyed a walk from the Inn to Campo Beach, about 25 minutes away. We stayed in room 313 with a view overlooking the gardens and water. As advertised, there is no elevator but we didn't have any trouble climbing two flights of stairs to our room. It is an older building with in-window air conditioning (a bit loud), but the room was large and decorated with high quality furniture and linens. There was a mini fridge and coffee maker. The only disappointments were a tiny shower and the booming bass from the wedding party until midnight. They do warn guests upon registration and we knew we risked the noise on a Saturday. The continental breakfast included cereal, toast, bagels, muffins, fruit, yogurt, juice and hot drinks. They had delicious lemon poppy seed bread. Parking was tight because of the golf course & wedding but we got a spot in a lower lot. The staff were friendly and efficient.
