“Should have been excellent”

We really enjoyed dinner here. Grilled mahi mahi was good. Pork shoulder pulled barbecue was excellent. Sides were good but, not exceptional......probably not made from scratch. Cocktails were good. Dessert was not good. The pecan pie was served ice cold! I can buy a box pie and nearly freeze it! Also, they could not produce a cup of coffee....machine broken? Guess they can't improvise or go to the restaurant next door.

Service was prompt and efficient even though they were very busy. The soft shell crab po boy was fabulous. Recommend this. Drinks were great. Others had pulled pork and shrimp. all very good. Great atmosphere and a great place to go with friends

“Very good casual dining experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2013

On our recent visit to Dewey Beach, there were 6 of us that dined here. The burgers and sandwiches that we ordered were very good. My son had the triple decker grilled cheese and said it was the best grilled cheese he ever had. My brother-in-law also really enjoyed his club sandwich. Both the grilled cheese and club sandwich were so big, half was packed away and brought home for later. We would definitely go back. The only complaint would be that it was a little noisy with some really rowdy guys playing a mini-shuffleboard game. The waitress was very pleasant and even took our picture for us.

“Almost Very Good But Order Wisely”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2013

This was a first visit and the review is mostly positive, but there are some surprises in what you get, so you need to be prepared. My wife had the fried chicken with mac & cheese and cole slaw sides. She pronounced all to be good to great. My son and I had the pulled pork and we were both surprised how sweet it was. Guess we are used to getting pulled pork plain with the ability to add your own sauce. Also, the green beans "Diane" were tasty but unexpectedly too sweet. The collard greens too were tasty but extremely spicy (hot). The pulled chicken was also good but the sauce was very sweet (as with the pork). The fried softshell crab "po-boy" sandwich was cooked well, but the mustard sauce made it impossible to taste the crab. Service was friendly but when the entrees appeared, we needed to wait over five minutes for each in our party of five to get their main dish. They also forgot to serve the fresh bread side with the BBQ entrees. Portion sizes were good. The atmosphere is interesting and while the place looked clean and neat, everything was sticky, that is, the table, menu, condiments on the table. If you are going to serve this much sugar, you need a more powerful detergent. There is not loud music like its nextdoor Hawaiian restaurant (Nalu), but the acoustics are such that loud patrons can be annoying. Overall, there was so much positive that we'll give it another chance, but we will sure ask a lot more questions about how each dish is prepared.

“Stuffed poblano is fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2013

I've been here about 7 times in the last two summers (3 over this past week). Easily the best food I've had in Dewey. This place seems to catch the overflow from Nalu though the food here is better than Nalu. It's never been more than half full any time I've been there. May be it's a little pricey than the pizza places.

They have a pretty good beer special of $2 PBR cans and $3 schooners of Lite. Only 2 other beers on tap (neither are IPAs). At the bar, the $5 menu is pretty tempting. The poppers (seem like the frozen grocery store type) are the only thing I've had here that are not very good. The $5 pork burrito (bar only) is a great deal and pretty good but not great. Really good given the price though and I can never pass it up when at the bar.

The stuffed poblano appetizer is really worth the trip. Stuffed peppers (e.g. relleno etc) are hard to make well and this one is fantastic. Pretty spicey though if you are sensitive. The catfish is decent but maybe only worth it on TUE when it's $9.99. The dry rub ribs were pretty good but again probably worth it on MON for $15 and a little overpriced normally at $23. The blackened mahi mahi (with 2 sides) was a good choice at full price $13.

For the sides, I thought the baked beans were the best followed by the rice and fries. Cole slaw was fine though I think Kraft cole slaw dressing is better. Someone in our group panned the dumplings.

Service is pretty good here though I suspect the staff may get a little bored at times when it's not a crush. If you sit near the service end of the bar you may overhear the bartender making fun of certain patrons.

They have a nice shuffle board which is usually open. Also one of those arcade games where you are the buck hunter though it wasn't working one of the nights we were there.
