Happened to visit when there was a re-enactment going on at the fort. What a treasure they have in this facility. We could see that the history of this Fort meant a lot to the town and the re-enactors as well. Thank you for all your time!

Fort Miles is an interesting installation from WWII. However, it would have been nice if the barracks had been set up the way they were during the time it was in use. The towers, if you can climb up the stairs, are awesome. You can see over a broad area. The State beach is great and it is a nice walk through the nature trails to the beach. All in all a nice experience.

As a military brat and a visitor to Fort Miles since the early 1960s, I recommend the place to everybody. Do as you like. Walk around old barracks and cannons and lookout posts. Go down to the beach for the day (much quieter than nearby Rehobeth, Lewes, or Ocean City). If you are a World War II buff, the restoration of this fort is gentle and leaves lots to the imagination and believe me, you can envision troops with invasion jitters, feel what barrack life must have been like and see the strategic defensive layout during the pre-drone era. I lived on Army posts my entire youth and this one is a little outpost gem. Glad everyone can see and feel it. Go.

Great place to visit, they have re enactments of when the fort was in use every year as well as on of the Restored towers you see along route1 in Delaware. The only other tower open to the public is in Cape May.

Well maintained group of buildings and some armaments from the WW2 era, please take time to go through the buildings when open, and also listen to the live historians when in session.
