Enjoyed going to the Lewes Beach. The waves aren't big, but if you have little children along you probably like that feature. I just enjoy looking out at the water, curling my toes in the sand and getting a little bit of sun. I went in to cool off but I'm not a big swimmer. You have to keep putting quarters in for the parking, but other than that it's an enjoyable, relaxing beach experience.

During our visit, construction limited access to nearby indoor toilets. Had to use the portas. But at least they were nearby.

Some people think of Lewes Beach as a place to take young kids. They're right, but it's also a nice, relaxing beach for adults. The beach is wide enough to set up away from children and read a good book. Yes, the water is calm so it's great for wading and cooling off. Parking is easy accessible for $1.50 an hour. Restrooms are nearby. The other bonus is it's location: after some time on the beach, it's easy to hop in the car and head for the outlets, downtown dining destinations or a bike ride through Cape Henlopen State Park.

It is no distance at all from the car park to the sea. It is obviously very popular and gets busy on summer weekends. We loved going there first thing in the morning ( as toddlers get up SO early...) when we had the beach to ourselves and saw lots of wildlife, including mating horseshoe crabs.

Due to how it's situated, this beach has the lowest waves I've experienced as well as a fairly long shallow stretch before the water drops off. We traveled here with two very young kids, so it was great watching them enjoy the water without too much worry. Also, parking is very close and costs about $1.50 per hour. Good for a quick beach outing.
