It was simple as that; "Lets go out"...
So, off we went to Shuckers; it really is only just around the corner.
First impression...Very noisy; but the wait staff were very attentive, we were seated very quickly.
With a drink order taken, and a decision made on what we would eat (Delmonico steaks topped with crab; rare & medium rare)
The wait was reasonable, the size of the serve generous; the cut of steak absolutely terrible; Diane's first mouthful was total fat.
I moved the crab off of mine, to confirm that mine was the same 40% fat.
Now, I am aware that a good steak has a degree of fat (marbling); this was fat that should have been trimmed prior to cooking!!!
We ate, received the bill, paid and left; very disappointed with intentions of never returning for a re-sit.
Final impression; loud, over priced and mediocre food.
If you want a social atmosphere, to drink and watch TV, it is great; leave the food right alone.

Having been told at Paradise Grill that there was a 2+ hour wait at 8 PM on a Saturday night (we should have know better) we drove down the highway and found JD Shuckers. We took a chance and went in. We were seated immediately even though the place was hopping. When you are hungry - that's important.

Our table of 4 had pulled pork and crab cakes (risky, I know - but the crab cakes were soooo good) - everyone was happy with it all. Yes - this is a local "beach (close enough) bar"... yes, it is loud - oh but, man, it is worth the visit. If you are fussy about everything and looking for a quiet evening out - don't bother. But if you love the beach, love the beach atmosphere, love the informality, love draft beer, whether you love seafood or not - then you will love this place. Heck, even Norm (let's test your sitcom memory) would love this place because it has a very "local" atmosphere. No - it's not a 5-Star (I hate pretentious places, anyway). No linens on the tables and the bar is loud. But the wait staff is pleasant, attentive, fun and informative - and the food is better then then I have had at other places in the area.

If you have high expectations, then pay the price and go somewhere else. But if you are looking for a good meal at reasonable prices with a local welcome feel - then give it a try.

Can't wait to go back!

First time visit and was not impressed. Very loud could hardly hear our waiter. We ordered drinks, wine came out warm should have been cold, beer was right temperature. Both ordered the special Parmesan encrusted tilapia it was like eating sawdust on a dried out fish. The sides were very small, my watermelon was warm as well as the coleslaw which I couldn't eat in fear of getting sick. My husband had a spoon full of mash potatoes and corn on cob which was ok, but how could you ruin corn on the cob. The place was crowded so obviously appeals to some, with so many places this would not be a recommendation from me.

Walked into JD SHUCKERS with a group of 6 of us for half prize burger night. We were put in our own area which was great. But the down fall was that we were quite ignored. The table sitting next to us got their drinks before us even though we put ours in before ours (before they were even seated mind you) we waited for nearly 45 to 50 minutes before we received our food order and where never once checked on in between that time. We had to go downstairs to the bar to get drinks refilled and on burger was not made to order. The biggest issue was out waitress had the nerve, after she provided us with hardly ANY SERVICE, a 20% gratuity (and in no part of the restaurant is it posted after 6 or more do they place a gratuity to your bill) the food was absolutely great if only we had a waitress that cared for their customers would it have been an enjoyable experience I'm sure of that.

Went over the 4th of July weekend on a Sunday - we were the only table there for the majority of the time, which for a local is awesome. Maybe because it was so slow, service was a little inattentive (had to wait quite awhile for drink refills) the cream of crab soup was HORRIBLE - I've had better library paste. Maybe it wasn't ready yet since we were the first customers for lunch, lumps of flour and NO crab to be seen. However, the chopped salad was very good - - husband had the cheeseburger which he really liked. Atmosphere is pubs/ish really comfortable. I'd like to try it again when it was a bit busier and everybody was more on their game!
