“The Heritage Inn”
Reviewed 14 January 2013

I have stayed at the Heritage Inn and Golf Club the last 2 weeks in June every year for about 7 years now, and every time has been excellent. The front desk staff have always been friendly and helpful. The rooms are huge and extreamly comfortable. I go there to visit a friend in Rehoboth Beach and will not stay at any other hotel other than the Heritage Inn. I highly recommend it. I will be going again in 2013.

Room Tip: Book a room with a "Golf View" and a balcony (at the rear). Excellent views and very quiet...

We found ourselves in a bind when we decided to take a last minute trip to the beach over Columbus Day weekend. Most hotels in the Lewes Beach area were booked that weekend since there were several large events taking place. Then we found the Heritage Inn and they had two rooms available! We booked both and arrived there about 4 p.m., checked in and were able to take the bags to our room without incident. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the rooms and the large balcony. We were also happy that the rooms were adjoining so we were connected with my sister and her husband who were in the room next door, without going out into the hallway. Each room was decorated to coordinate with the name of the room. Ours was "American Music" and there were pictures of all types of music and entertainers on the walls as well as a curio cabinet filled with all things music (8-track tape, trumpet, record ablum, etc). Very clever! We had packed a cooler full of food and drinks, and the refrigerators in the rooms were large enough to accommodate all the food we had brought with us. The rooms were clean; the bedding was clean; the TV had many channels; the internet worked fine for us; and the bathroom linens were clean as well. We had a nice evening there and decided to book an additional night the following night. In the morning we enjoyed the free breakfast they offered. There were four types of cereal (Rice Krispies, Cheerios, Lucky Charms and another kind I can't remember-maybe corn flakes); several types of bagels with cream cheese and butter; several flavors of instant oatmeal; granola bars; apples; several types of muffins; danish; hot chocolate; coffee, decaf coffee and tea. They offered flavored creamers and milk as well as sugar and artificial sweetener for the coffee and tea. We were pleased with their selection, and it was actually more than we expected. The staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was free. The ice machine on the third floor was broken, but the one on the first floor worked fine, so we had everything we needed. Obviously the pool wasn't open since it was October, but it looked like a nice swimming area (we could see it from the dining room as well as from our balcony). We're looking forward to going back next year.

The rating is based largely on the value. I have not stayed in such a nice room in the USA for such a modest price in a long time.
The people at the service desk were very friendly and helpful. The room itself was huge and very clean. We stayed in the Tennessee room and it contained amusing collection of Elvis, Memphis, andNashville
memorabilia. Have a good sense of humor and you will enjoy it.
The location is close to both the Lewes-Cape May ferry and Bethany. It is near route1 but set back so it is very quiet. The continental breakfast was reasonably good. Certainly you would not go hungry

While some may think they're trapped in a time warp of an era when "kitchy Americana" was en vogue, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were in the "Mojave Desert" room, which included a little "Borax" diorama in its corner cabinet. Seriously. How many places will you stay and encounter that?

But, more importantly:
The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. The hotel was quiet, and we enjoyed a good night's sleep. We had to leave early the next morning, but their continental breakfast was fully stocked at 6:30am just as we hoped.

We would gladly stay here again if needing accommodations in the Rehoboth area.

The hotel is a 10 minute drive from the Rehoboth boardwalk and right on route 1, so a great location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The price was the lowest I could find in the area for an acceptable hotel.

The room was a little grungy. It was US state themed with a bizarre curio cabinet filled with rarely-dusted knick-knacks. I thought that detail was pretty tacky. The area around the patio doors was dirty, as were the corners in the bathrooms. The vinyl shower curtain was starting to get moldy. Our toilet wouldn't stop running. The room smelled very musty when we first checked in. So, not the most luxurious or trendy accommodations. However, most importantly, the bed was clean and I did not get bed bugs. Also, it was quiet and safe.

We only spent one night here and it was nice. I booked the hotel online, attracted by it's lovely exterior and the fact that a good rate was offered at the time. We were coming into Lewes via a ferry in late afternoon so being on the beach was not important that day. You can easily drive to the beach from the hotel.

We got a standard room which had a refrigerator and coffee maker, no microwave. The fridge is bigger than the mini ones we've had in other hotels.

The rooms have a theme; ours was the Minnesota and was nicely furnished in a colonial style with photos and souvenirs from Minnesota. Air quality was okay, lighting average, atmosphere pleasant, and our room was very clean. The lobby was hung with colorful state flags. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel restaurant was closed; whether permanently or just for the season I don't know. It was mid-September. A family restaurant is just a short walk away and there are other eateries nearby. Shopping is also nearby.

The hotel was very quiet but it was a Sunday afternoon after Labor Day. Later that night the wireless internet stopped working, but at least it was free while it lasted.

I would consider staying here again.

Room Tip: Our room looked over a parking lot so you might want to ask for a room with a nicer view.

I made a reservation of a king suite on the labor day weekend. Before I entered the room, I discovered the door covered with full of bugs feasting, which reminded me the movie "Mummy", We managed to get in the suite where there were no bugs thankfully. I called the desk, they said they can only spray on the door after midnight. The day after, they seemed to sprayed something on the door but left all dead bugs on the hallway. Very disgusting experience.
