Love this place! Rick- with his wonderful sense of whimsey and artistic flair has made the Blue Water House more than a B&B - it is a home where all are welcome. This man is not afraid of color, and it works throughout the property - and contrary to what one might think, the vibrant colors are actually soothing and relaxing. As others have mentioned the amenities are unending, and you are welcome to all of it. As long time B&B'ers, this is the only place we have stayed and had SO much offered - bikes, water, beach towels, snacks, beer, wine etc. etc. Breakfast both mornings was filling and delicious!
Our room - Key Lime was great! The deck with table and chairs was a nice spot to feel the breezes and enjoy some wine. A/C worked well, kept us cool on a hot couple of nights. The location is perfect for walking everywhere, and Lewes is a charming town. We totally enjoyed our stay, wish it could have been longer. Bravo to Rick for sharing his home and vision with the rest of us! We will be back!

A friend and I stayed at The Blue Water House for only one night (we booked late, so availability was low). I would absolutely stay again, whenever I have the opportunity. I was greeted by Rick, the owner, as soon as I arrived. He gave me a brief tour - offered free water, free food from the kitchen, and basically told me to make myself at home. The place is ADORABLE. The decor is eclectic and fun, and each room is done differently. The pics on the website actually don't do it justice, in my opinion. The rooms were clean and very inviting. My friend and I stayed in the Key West room and really enjoyed our wine on the private balcony area. :-) Everything (restaurants, bars) was within walking distance. We had no idea what to expect of Lewes, so the next day, after a home cooked breakfast made by Rick (he cooks whatever you ask him to!), we borrowed a couple of (free) bicycles and explored Lewes - a charming town by the bay. Overall, I have zero complaints and many compliments for the Blue Water House, and would recommend it to anyone over a standard hotel.

We had a wonderful time here! The walls filled with positive quotes and artwork, a kitchen always accessible with fruit, tea, coffee, wine, pastries, pretzels, and snacks, a hammock out back, bikes to use, chilled water bottles always greeting you at the front entrance, and amazing Rick who is so helpful and personable. Highly recommend staying here when in Lewes, DE. We will on our future trips.

We ditto all of the positive reviews here on TA about Rick, Lola, and the Blue Water House. We stayed for a long weekend at the beginning of August and then just returned for another long weekend over Labor Day. The fact that we returned within 30 days should speak for itself! All of the extras, along with Rick's great, laid-back personality, make it a wonderful stay. We stayed earlier this summer at the much pricier Canal Inn and found Blue Water house to be much homier and comfortable. The short walk to beach and town are wonderful and the beaches in Lewes are great. If you have children, don't miss the SANDCASTLE LADY every August!

Blue Water House is our go-to place when we want to unwind and recharge. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The decor is vibrant and friendly. The location allows you to leave the car parked. The beach is a quiet stroll away and the walk in to town takes you across the drawbridge for a lovely view of the canal. Of course, you can choose to hang out in your room too especially if you have your private section of the wraparound porch on the third floor. The kitchen stays open and there are snacks, fruit, and drinks for the taking. Ask Rick to make popcorn!

Room Tip: The rooms with the outdoor balcony on the third floor are especially nice.
