Stayed in a two-bedroom suite for two nights. The facilities are clean and attractive. The appointments were varied. The sitting room had no sofa, only a love seat and some dining chairs. But the master bath had an elegant English-style towel heating rack, an unexpected luxurious.

The hotel is conveniently located for visiting Winterthur and Longwood gardens and the Brandywine museum. The property itself has a relatively small footprint so there is not a lot of opportunity for strolling around. Also it is on a slope so there are a lot of steps between the main lobby and the room entrance where we stayed. The main lobby has a pleasant sitting area/game room. The Krazy Kats restaurant, named after one of the DuPont favorite aunts had good food and service, but the main dining room was really dark (no windows) so we always requested a room in the smaller, brighter room.

Only negatives were that a)the three kids in the suite next door were very noisy, and b) we found out at departure that they offer a special package that would have saved us over $100 across our two day stay.

My husband and I just spent 4 wonderful nights at the Inn in the Whittfiel Suite. This is one of the superior suites and it was spectacular. A sitting room with a fireplace, a bedroom with a king size bed and a little porch perched above the private garden. The bathroom was gigantic with a walk in shower and large soaking tub. There was a small room connecting the living room to the bedroom with an armoire and the beverage center (keurig coffee maker, microwave, small refrigerator with ice maker). The beverage center is stocked with coffee, tea, spring water and soda as well as silverware and dishes for two. Both the bedroom and living room had flat screen TVs. The accommodation was very clean and I must comment on the quality of the bed and the linens which were very luxurious. The rooms also have Wi-Fi.

The Inn has a magical feel to it as if you were transported to another time. The area is beautiful and serene, yet close to all the gardens, mansions and museums in the area. It’s also just minutes away from all the big box stores and restaurants on Route 202.

The staff at the Inn are wonderful, warm, friendly and helpful. We had a glitch with housekeeping one day and the issue was resolved immediately. I had the luck to get an appointment at the Spa for a pedicure, the treatment and the atmosphere was so relaxing, I tried to book a facial for later in my stay but they were all booked up. Make your appointments early!

One note of importance, the web site does not do this place justice; the owners should update it to better reflect the wonderful rooms and atmosphere.

All in all this is the best place we have stayed in the area and are already talking about coming back for our anniversary in September.

I spent three nights in the really gorgeous DuPont room in the charming Inn at Montchanin Village. The bed was comfy, the huge bath and enormous shower were great ('tho the hot water was unusually slow to arrive!) and I loved having a gas fireplace in front of two cushy chairs. The staff were pleasant and efficient and the decor traditional and lovely.
Aside from my room, which was something special, the Inn itself is worth a visit - - a collection of old houses (once for mill workers?) converted into luxury hotel rooms connected by gardens and paths. I had an excellent dinner in the restaurant onsite (seared walleye) and was pleased that 1/2-size portions were offered as I can never finish an entire serving in most restaurants. I was less happy about the breakfast - - I hadn't made a reservation so was banished to the dining room, where I was the sole occupant of a very dark room, instead of the sunny garden room where all the other guests were seated!
A nice surprise was the convenient location of the Inn to all sorts of wonderful attraction, such as Longwood Gardens, Winterthur and the historic Brandywine Valley. I was in the area for other reasons and hadn't checked into the local attractions, so had to remain an extra day to visit some of them!
I would absolutely stay at the Inn again if I'm ever in the area!

Room Tip: If it's available, the DuPont room can't be beat!

My daughter took me here on Mother's Day for a massage and facial. The massage table is heated and elevates your feet. The massage was top notch and the waiting room features delicious fruits and beverages. She ordered a cheese tray for us and the cheese spread and wine were amazing. They showed us in to a private room to relax and enjoy our food.

The Inn at Montchanin Village is a lovely inn with wonderful accomodations. This is the second time I have stayed at this Inn and it was just as great as the first time. This is well worth it. The location is perfect to see all the sites in the Brandywine Valley. Enjoy!

We found this Inn thanks to the Trip Adviser and it was a great find! We felt welcome and taken care of. The room ( Henry) was beautiful, elegant and comfortable. we had enough space to have a dinner in with visiting relatives! The sitting room in the Reception area is absolutely beautiful, very period oriented and by my husband's opinion appointed better than Winterthur!
we enjoyed our short stay and will try to stay there again!

After two visits,The Inn at Montchanin Village has become one of our favorite getaways in the Mid-Atlantic area. The suites we stayed in were spacious and beautifully appointed, had large bathrooms, and even a small kitchenette.

The owners have taken an historical village (the property is in the National Register of Historic Places) and meticulously restored it while infusing it with a playful irreverence. Aphorisms are scattered on plaques throughout the property. The phone number is 800-COWBIRD, and its Krazy Kat restaurant (excellent) features stiff, formal oil portraits of what at first glance look like stuffy ancestors, but actually depict dogs and cats in full human regalia.

Several historic Dupont properties are within a few miles, each of which justifies a day's visit.
