We had a wonderful one-night stay at the Blue Hen. Amy and Donald are very hospitable, the place is fabulous and the food divine. We will return, the next time we are in Delaware! A great experience!!!

Room Tip: The room with its own bathroom was just perfect.....top floor.

My husband and I enjoyed our three nights stay at Blue Hen (despite the fact that we stayed during hurricane Sandy's invasion, and many thanks to Amy and Donald for everything!) The historical home is just beautiful and the bnbowners were gracious and friendly! Wonderful breakfast! It was like a home away from home! Very comfortable, very clean, and many little extras that made our stay so enjoyable... we'll definitely stay here again!

We stayed here when we went to visit with our grandson at The University of Delaware. It was the perfect place to stay with our dog Jessie. We were able to leave her playing on the grounds while we went to the dorm. Amy and Don fed her dinner and their dogs Brandy and Bailey made her feel at home. We came back to pick her up for a walk around town, only 2 miles away, and Amy invited our grandson back for breakfast. This type of hospitality exceeded our expectations.
The house was beautiful, interesting and very comfortable. We all enjoyed breakfast too.
We will plan our next visit based on room availability at The Blue Hen as we could not think of staying anywhere else in Newark

Amy and Don are fantastic hosts. They immediately made my wife and I feel at home. The food was great and the bed is one of the best I've slept on. It really felt like staying with family. The amenities and house are all wonderful and we look forward to coming back soon.

stayed here only 1 night Oct 2012. Regret that we didn't have more time to just relax and enjoy the place...we attended a wedding and were pretty booked. However, this place has a lot to offer: space, peace and quiet. It's a B&B, but there's room to spread out and consequently privacy is not a problem. The hosts strike just the right balance of attentiveness and leaving their guests on their own. Furnishings, decor, etc superior, as was the breakfast. One tip: go out the drive way, turn right and walk a couple hundred feet. There is a great place on the left for take out food, and the specialty is crab bisque.
