“Gender Reveal Baby Shower”

We had a gender reveal baby shower for my neice at the Hilton Wilmington/Christiana. Our event was in the courtyard, which was very beautiful. We were fortunate to have awesome weather as well. The service was excellent - all of our requests were met both in the pre-planning phase with Leah and Jennifer and the day of the event. We were particularly please with a gentleman named Michael (I beleive) the day of the event. He was very helpful and always around to support us. The food was excellent - we have the Pasta bar (create your own pasta, sauce and fixings). Only concern was with one chef making the dish, there was a little bit of a line. I also feel like they took the pasta away pretty quickly but I believe we knew the schedule in advance and should has requested it stay longer. My neice was so excited (she's having a boy, already has a girl and really wanted a boy) and pleased with the party. She got married at the same Hilton and was supposed to have the ceremony in the courtyard but couldn't because of the weather on her wedding day. This just made it extra special to have the reveal party in the courtyard.

The rooms are clean, staff very helpful and breakfast is wonderful, with Chef Don's yummy omelettes.
Only draw backs are dirty pillow cases and sheets and king room had bad smell like some chemical.
Its pet friendly, the chair in the room had claw marks and hair from some pet. So had to get it out.
Bath tub in Twin bed room had grey hard water marks, which couldn't come off even after the housekeeper's half hour scrubbing.
I like the design and space of the rooms. And windows can be opened for fresh breeze.

I must have stayed here a dozen times over the years and on the whole it's been good with plenty of restaurants to choose from within walking distance, pleasant staff and comfortable rooms. This time however was a bit of a let down.

The accommodation section of the hotel is in a 'U' shaped building with two elevators servicing each side. I'm not hopelessly unfit but being able to use an elevator to get to the 3rd floor would have been great on check-in and check-out what with my having several bags to haul around. Unfortunately both the elevators servicing one side of the hotel were out of order meaning that anyone wanting access to the upper floors on that side (and not able to use the stairs) had to walk three sides of the building. While the staff were apologetic they had no idea when these might be repaired and gave the impression they broke down some time ago.

Something I noticed on my previous visits that seems to have grown progressively worse is the unpleasant smell of cooking grease in the breakfast and function area. It really is now quite rancid and enough to put me off eating there.

I'm fit enough to carry my bags upstairs but the nauseating smell means I'll be staying elsewhere next time.

We had four people in the room and were very comfortable. Convenient for visits to Dover, PA Amish, Philly, and DC. All the facilities including shower and AC worked very well. Room was quiet. Ample free parking. Great value for the room rate we paid.

First, i would like to say that the staff was on point and very attentive to me...the bride to be. Jen from sale called me numerous times to discuss the all the details of the blocked rooms and to keep me informed of the number of guests that had been booked and the time that was left to book. We were offered a complimentary honeymoon room as well as a shuttle to transport our guest to and from the reception hall. My now husband had the staff decorate the room in roses and they were happy to aid him in his surprise for me. Another reason for the 5 stars...our shuttle driver, Jason dropped us off at Delaware Park, told us what time that he could pick us up...needless to say, we lost track of time and didn't meet him as previously discussed, he could have left us there...but NO...he came in and wondered around until he found us...what compassion and kindness that was,,,we would recommend the Christiana Hilton to anyone who wanted to stay were the staff actually cares about their customers!!! Love this hotel. It does need some renovations to maintain it's high level of quality. The staff is friendly and responsive to your needs and requests. I especially enjoy being able to take our dog with us.

I enjoyed Hilton. I have been coming here for over 10 or 15 years. I wish you had more entertainment for seniors to do or just something going on in the hotel. Dining is really too experience for me and my wife. We use the race track for our entertainment while we are there. We are thinking of changing hotel our next visit.
