“Beautiful campground”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014

We camped for 4 nights recently and had a good time! It was very hot and if you are camping there you need to know that there are NO trees or shade in the area. It was also windy so putting our awning out was not possible. The beach was a short walk from our campsite and everything is newly paved and the bathrooms are redone (although the bathrooms are the type that you have to press the button continually to get hot water)
There were people fishing along the inlet- and we wished we had brought fishing poles. There was a nice playground for the kids and we saw a bunch of turtles roaming the area.
We took day trips to Rehoboth and Ocean City. Overall, we would return- the location is great!

“Pleasant Day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

Great deal at $8/day for car, no worries about needing to continuously feed the meter like at some of the other nearby beaches. If you go down one of the side paths the beach is less crowded, but the amenities are still accessible. It was definitely most crowded near the boardwalk access point.

“Great Public Beach, Skip the Campsite”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014

1.) Beach: We arrived early because it was the 4th of July weekend, but even at 9:30am there was still a ton of parking available. The parking lot is extremely close to the beach, maybe a 5 minute walk at most. The parking attendant was very friendly and helpful, and he saved us the parking fee by advising us to stop at the campsite first. The bathrooms were very clean and large, so the wait was never too long. The snack bar didn't open till around 10am and had an obscene line the entire day, so I'd advise that you avoid it if you can; the prices were very high as well (e.g. $3.50 for a pretzel). If you get there early, make sure you don't set up between the lifeguards because they will ask you to move (the umbrellas block their ability to see/communicate with each other).

2.) Campsite: Camped overnight during the 4th of July weekend. If you get to the beach before you can check into your campsite at 1pm, make sure to still go to the campsite first to get your parking pass so you don't have to pay the $8 parking fee in the beach parking lot. We camped for one night but the pass was good for both days, so you're saving yourself $16 in parking fees. Although you can walk from the campsite to the beach, it's too far for comfort. The attendants running the campsite were very polite, helpful, and quick; make sure to fill out the pre-registration form before you arrive (no need to print it off though!) and check-in will take less than 5 minutes. This campsite is huge, so expect to be surrounded by a lot of people and a lot of noise. Although there is a noise curfew at 10pm, people were still blaring music past midnight. Also be prepared for the flood lights on the buildings and the light of the bridge, as well as other campers' lights. The bathrooms only have about 5 showers and 4 toilets, but the wait isn't too long since there are several facilities. I've read some reviews that said the campsites are small, but if you're camping in a tent you have plenty of room. If you're on a sand lot, it is a mixture of sand and rocks. We didn't have a problem with flies, although there were a few small flies that didn't bite. Overall, this was a good place to set up for the night, but I would not come back because it's too open and too crowded. There's no privacy, and people are not kidding about the lack of shade; you will cook alive if you don't set up a canopy or have a cover over the windows in your tent. Also, avoid that camp store like the plague. $5 for a bag of already melting ice, and the main clerk was a complete jerk. The store's sign advises that it is closed from 3:30pm-4pm, but a large group of customers were waiting until they opened up at 4:15pm. The clerk made no apologies for the lateness and instead complained that a customer had knocked on the door, claiming it interrupted them and that they would just close for a longer time "if that's what it takes." His rudeness really left us upset, considering that everyone else working in the park was so friendly.

“Great Beach Access!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

If you are vacationing in Rehoboth or Dewey Beach and are not within walking distance to the beach, go here. For $8 a day you have full access to a wide spacious beach, with no hotels or condos looming over you. Plus shower, changing and bathroom facilities. Plus an onsite snack bar, (although DO NOT eat there, bring your own food. Their food is HORRIBLE!!) Pretzels are OK, but then how can you screw up microwaving a frozen pretzel!

There is plenty of parking and as I said, and very long and wide beach, (depending on how far you're willing to walk!) I recommend you get there by 10 a.m. (fills up quick)or after 3 p.m. as they stay open until sundown. Remember you're other beach options are paying the meters and they are $$$$! The parking app they recommend does not work well either. State park is the way to go.

“It's a place to park your RV near the beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

This campground is for beach lovers. There is nothing special or fancy about it. It is essentially a huge parking lot with narrow spaces for RVs to park, with a small little area for a picnic table and perhaps an easy-up or canopy. There are a few tent sites off to the side. The RV sites have full hook-ups which is nice. The staff was reasonably friendly and the park is right across from the beach. There are lots of kids riding bikes around the park and using the playground. Yes, there is a slight odor from all of the RV holding tanks. It is also true that there is no natural shade so you will need to bring some and will seriously want to have a working air conditioner in your rig (though I survived without one).
