It started bad----Check in is at 4pm not a minute before and 40-50 people checking in at the same time with 3 people at the desk was not fun! Felt bad for the desk people! I had to wait 2 hours for my room!

But believe it or not it got worse! My room smelt! Wifi did not work the entire trip! Housekeeper decided to not leave me any towels the first day and it took hours to find someone to get me some! The second day they skipped my room entirely despite my calling the front desk twice! They left coffee but no coffee pot! There was a huge jacuzzi in the middle of my living room! So weird!

The hotel is old and moldy, badly kept, run down, dirty, poor service, horrible food and way over priced! We paid $400 a nite for two of the rooms and $500 for the one with the smell!

The good points of the hotel? It's right on the boardwalk has a nice little pool and it could be a great little spot with some TLC. They have a new wing that is better than the old wing but not by much. It feels like the hotels position is "we're gonna sell out anyway because of our location so your just lucky to be here". The only thing worse than a hotel that doesn't care is probably the people who figure it out after paying top dollar. The front desk was inundated with people complaining every time I walked by it. The negativity they emanated did not make for happy hotel workers.

I would stay anywhere but here next time!

Yes, the Jacuzzi in our two room bridal suites is in the living room area of the suite and housekeeping does need time to prepare rooms in between guest departures and arrivals. This guest was informed, in advance, that check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Housekeeping attempts to clean rooms and provide fresh towels during a guest’s stay are sometimes hampered when “Do not Disturb” signs are placed on the door for the majority of the day. It is true that the hotel’s Wi-Fi system was down for the weekend due to an unforeseen problem outside the control of the hotel. Our IT personnel worked as hard as humanly possible to rectify the situation as soon as possible but not soon enough to prevent our front desk staff members from receiving some complaints. We certainly regret when things like this happen from time to time and certainly do not intend to disappoint our guests however threats of a poor or grossly exaggerated review on Trip Advisor do not help to correct technical problems or change our stated check-in policies, etc. If rooms are available, as many reviews on this site have indicated, our staff members happily allow guests to check-in early despite the fact that early check-in cannot be guaranteed.

We just got back from our stay here. We requested a room on the fourth floor, which we did receive. The first two or three days we had some obnoxious people next door, playing loud music constantly. The new pool is pretty cool, although there were no towels the two days we went there. The staff at the front desk was very nice and the housekeepers were also nice. We will be back next year.

At the last minute we decided to take an overnight Fri/Sat trip to Rehoboth. We were excited to find a hotel that was willing to allow us a 1 night stay and although choices were limited (our fault) we booked a room. True, we did pay a premium price but beach front / in season / last minute, that was expected. When we arrived early (9AM) we were greeting by two wonderful ladies (blonde and brunette, sorry I don't remember their names because they were the BEST!) Knowing that check-in wasn't until 4pm we were AMAZED that we could check in! Also, we inquired about any opportunities for an ocean view upgrade. The ladies worked hard to make that happen for us and we got a beautiful room with an ocean view balcony over the boardwalk! The room was perfect in everyway! Throughout the day/evening and the next day as well, the ladies at the desk always aknowledged us with cheerfulness and smiles. They were lovely people!

The location of this hotel can not be beat! PERFECT! After some browsing of the many shops downtown and a fantastic lunch on the balcony of Gratos, we came back to the room and got ready for the beach. We loved the beach chairs and umbrella that the hotel provided for us and the hotel is located right on the beach! It was the perfect afternoon. We came back to the room for a bit of relaxing and showers and then had a wonderful evening of drinks, dinner and a lovely night walk on the beach! On Saturday we slept in a bit. The bed was extremely comfortable and it didn't hurt that the love of my life was next to me, LOL! We got up and walked to a nearby restaurant for breakfast and did a little shopping too.

The only problem I had with this hotel is that we couldn't stay longer! When we return to Rehoboth next year, my partner and I will definitely consider this hotel. Although it was a brief stay, we had a wonderful experience. Thank you for making our weekend getaway simply perfect!

While parts of the hotel are showing their age, the location pn the boardwalk more than compensated for this. Being able to
literally walk out onto the beach was a great plus. A nice surprise was that rental of beach chairs anx umbrella were included in the price greatly improved the overall value. The bar was somewhat overpriced but staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely stay again.

You can't beat the location of this hotel! Room was clean, but front lobby and elevators were a bit worn down and could use updating. Helpful staff, free beach chair & umbrella rental, new pool, and cold A/C. We had an ocean front room- great view! Overall great place to stay!

Booked the Sands online for last minute Friday evening stay for one night. Most hotels require 2-3 night minimum. We arrived Friday am 9:00am (check in was 4:00pm). Met the ladies at the front desk as we arrived,,, A lovely blonde and brunette... They were very friendly and kind. We said we came in early and mentioned we booked online and wondered whether we could be upgraded to an Ocean View. Not only did they upgrade us boys, but they allowed early check in at 9:00am. We had a lovely room King Size bed and amazing Ocean Views. We unpacked and walked around town, had lunch, came back and changed for beach.... Enjoyed the beach and then came back to relax in our room before we showered for drinks and dinner. The room was perfect, the hotel staff perfect and they provided beach chairs and umbrella for our beach day. It was the perfect romantic evening with the best guy in my life. Sometime spur of the moment can be the best times in your life. We had the best two days at the beach. Very Romantic... It did not hurt that the guy I am dating is also the perfect guy for me... Thank you again D and D

This was our 15th year coming to this property. The location is excellent, the majority of the staff is friendly and welcoming especially the bellman, Donnelle. Even though we only see him once a year he still remembers us to see us. Over the years I've had mixed reviews for this hotel. Pros: location, pool (which was redone this year and is excellent), proximity to activities, beach chairs and umbrellas for guests, towels for use at the pool, and the best housekeeping staff in all the years I've been there. Cons: pricey, my quoted price didn't match the bill I received when we checked in?? Got it straightened out though. Although our room was very clean the condition was not what one would expect for the price per night. The bathroom was especially in need of repairs and upgrades I.E. peeling wallpaper, old ball-style faucet that was extremely hard to turn on. They use these fabric shower curtains that stick to you when you're showering, there is no fan in the bathroom so the only mirror in the (in our case, suite) is constantly fogged making it difficult for one to get ready while another is showering. There are no towel bars to hang anything although we choose a room with a balcony so we can at least hang our wet beach clothes and towels out as well as our chairs and cooler. As our room had a refrigerator and microwave we ate bkfst and lunch in our room. It's been our experience over the years that the Sands hasn't had very good restaurants. We have our favorites in Rehoboth anyway. This year however, there was a bad storm one night and we thought it best to not venture our for dinner. We ate at the hotel's newly themed restaurant. We were one of three families there that night. There was a (one) very nice waitress and a supposed bartender helping her. Apparently there was only one cook in the kitchen because it took "forever" to get our food. And, the bartender had to look up drink recipes on his smart phone. The prices didn't reflect this level of poor service and incompetence. I'm sure the three employees did the best they could. Overall there seems to be a general lack of good management. That said, I will return to the Sands because of the location, the pool, and as long as they will negotiate price with me. The rate they initially quote is far too high for what they offer. (I've travelled a fair amount.)

Room Tip: Suites with balconies (south side, I think) are the best option for families. Lots of room, 2 TVs, 2...

During a stormy night, some of our employees didn’t make it in to work. The restaurant management could have closed the restaurant when employees called out but instead chose to keep it open so that our guests could dine inside rather than having to leave the hotel during a storm. Short-handed and without a bartender, a well-meaning employee stepped in to do the job in an attempt to serve a customer who chose to stay in rather than weather the storm. This guest did not ask for a simple beer or glass of wine or even a gin & tonic, so our employee looked up the drink recipe to make certain the drink ordered was made to the guest’s satisfaction. This guest criticized the employee for looking up the recipe but did not indicate that the drink was anything but fine. We aren’t always perfect but our management and employees sure “give it their all” in an attempt to meet a guest’s needs as they did in this case. (Please note that an email request sent to this guest for the opportunity to discuss their experience was unanswered.)
