In the past, we loved Planet X. During this visit, we were completely disappointed. The food was subpar, we weren't given ice for our drinks even though it was hot (we were told they were running short - it was a Saturday night at 6PM and you don't have ice???), the interior smelled like diesel oil or something else, and our waiter seemed to be more intent on guarding the dirty menus than serving customers. Seriously, what happened????

The service is dreadful! We arrived with a party of 6 and the host could have cared less. We arrived just at the start of a summer thunder storm and were seated on the porch where we assured we would not get wet. I was skeptical but never got a chance to find out. At the first rumble of thunder (about 2 minutes after we sat down), we were told we had to move inside since patrons could not be on the porch during a thunder storm. Could the host not see that a storm was about to hit? We were moved inside and there was no air conditioning in July. Neither of the two wall units was functioning. The host, who then magically became our waiter, hated to answer questions. When he did, answers were abrupt and bordered on being rude. I kept hearing “Welcome to the Hotel California” in my head. The food, when it arrived, was quite good but there are lots of good restaurants in Rehoboth. There is no reason to put up poor and uncaring service! Also, it was not because they were busy. There were a total of three tables occupied. Will not be returning.

I have summered in Bethany and Rehobeth for many years. Every couple of years the restaurants change, some new appear and others fail (e.g. La La Land). Planet X, a long time and once very good dining experience has gone down hill and is near the tipping point of being a very poor experience. First, the maitre d' seemed to go out of his way to be unfriendly, on the phone and at the restaurant. He challenged simple questions as if they were stupid before changing his mind and providing the answer. And the food was poor. For instance, one dish, the seared tuna was large pieces of raw tuna with a little searing. This was the first time that the chef did not seem to know about the sizing of the portion so that it did not seem like large unappealing hunks of raw fish. The other dishes were prepared without attention to detail. Not only was this a poor meal, but it was sad because in its day this was a reliably good restaurant.

Have had spectacular meals here in past years. Took a couple friends for a girl's night. The food is still good, but.... that's about it.

We made a reservation for 8:30, asked for outside, and were given the WORST table out there. When we asked for another, we were told they were reserved. Guess what? Noone ever sat in them... We repeatedly asked that they lower the volume of the spa/trance disco music blasting out of the speaker above our heads. Never happened. Service simply horrid -- sloppy, late, and she really, really didn't seem to care AT ALL. Two wines ordered -- neither in house. No offer for something we could try in its place.

The food took forever -- but it was as good as ever. Yum.

All in all? for the price, there's MUCH better on offer in Rehoboth... If the groovy porch appeals and you don't care about the rest, have at it...

They advertise organic and local farms, but when you ask where they seafood is from they tell you is from Florida and it is frozen.
